Vietnam team list: Nguyen Filip absent, Van Lam on the list

Coach Kim Sang Sik announced the list of 24 Vietnamese players to gather at the FIFA Days in October, preparing for the two matches against Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

As expected, with many veterans suffering injuries and poor form, coach Kim Sang Sik gave opportunities to 8 young faces from the U23 team that just won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and qualified for the 2026 Asian U23 Championship, including: goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Phi Hoang, Nguyen Nhat Minh and Dinh Bac.

The team's roster still has players with extensive international experience such as Do Duy Manh, Bui Tien Dung, Pham Xuan Manh, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, Cao Quang Vinh, Nguyen Tien Linh...

Notable absences in this training session are goalkeeper Nguyen Filip, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Thanh Binh, Hung Dung, Tuan Anh... while Dang Van Lam returns after a long time away from the national team.

Meeting a not-so-strong opponent, Nepal, will be an opportunity for the young players to show themselves, aiming for the gold medal at SEA Games 33. The presence of the U23 team promises to bring a new breeze and more tactical options for coach Kim Sang Sik.

The Vietnamese team will gather again on October 4 in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for two matches against Nepal. The first leg will take place at Go Dau Stadium on October 9, while the second leg will be held at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) on October 14.
