U23 Vietnam gathers: 3 overseas Vietnamese players join

Along with the national team, U23 Vietnam also gathered in early October to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 U23 Asian Cup.

The list of U23 Vietnam has many changes compared to the most recent training session to participate in the 2026 U23 Asia qualifiers. The reason is that there are 8 players that coach Kim Sang Sik promoted to the Vietnam team to prepare for the two matches against Nepal.

Notable faces participating in this training session include Pham Ly Duc, Le Van Thuan, Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Ngoc My... These are the people who left their mark in the recent 2026 U23 Asia qualifiers.

In particular, U23 Vietnam has the presence of a new factor Nguyen Vadim (SHB Da Nang Club). Born in 2005 in Russia, Vadim has a Vietnamese father and a Russian mother. At the age of 20, this 1m75 tall player is considered quite versatile, able to play well in both the winger and central midfielder positions.

Vadim is also a new player of SHB Da Nang in the 2025/26 season. With his presence, U23 Vietnam now has three overseas Vietnamese players including Tran Thanh Trung, Le Viktor and Nguyen Vadim.

Because coach Kim Sang Sik is busy leading the Vietnam national team, Acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh is the one in charge of the Vietnam U23 team.

Vietnam U23 team will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center until October 7, then head to the UAE for training. Here, the team will have two friendly matches with Qatar U23 team, which are considered to be of very high quality in terms of technical skills, on October 9 and October 13 respectively.
