Lo Lo Chai has just been recognized as "The best tourist village in the world "
Lo Lo Chai - a fairy tale village in the middle of the northernmost sky
Recognized by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as "The World's Best Tourist Village" on October 17, 2025, Lo Lo Chai village (Tuyen Quang province) is hidden at the foot of Dragon Mountain, just a few steps away from Lung Cu flagpole.
Coming here, visitors feel as if time slows down and each step touching this land seems to take people into a fairy tale world.
The Lo Lo people have lived in harmony with nature for generations. They farm on the mountain slopes, weave brocade from flax, and craft musical instruments from bronze and bamboo. Every detail of the village tells a story of resilience and national pride.
But perhaps what makes Lo Lo Chai most special are the ancient rammed earth houses, a type of architecture that can only be found in a few places in the world. The thick walls are built entirely from rammed earth. The curved yin-yang tiled roofs not only create a graceful line amidst the majestic mountain scenery but also contain a philosophy of living in harmony with nature.
In Lo Lo Chai, more than 90% of the residents are Black Lo Lo, one of the smallest ethnic groups in Vietnam but with a very unique culture. Overcoming all the difficulties of life in the highlands, the people here still preserve their traditional identity through meticulously hand-embroidered brocade costumes, through religious rituals imbued with spiritual values, folk songs, and dances depicting life connected with nature and community.
Since 2016, Lo Lo Chai has become known for its community tourism model. To serve tourists, more than 50 homestays have been built, all of which retain the original architecture of the earthen houses, skillfully preserving each tiled roof, stone pillars, and ancient gardens.
Coming to Lo Lo Chai, visitors will live with the host, learn to cook, learn to sew, make handicrafts, join in festivals, wear traditional costumes and dance around the campfire.
Community tourism here develops slowly but steadily, without fading the identity but helping visitors feel the cultural heritage preserved and honored over time.

Thai Hai - a cultural space imbued with the identity of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups

Thai Hai is a place that preserves many unique stilt houses.
Although there are no luxury, high-class services or modern facilities, every year the Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area (Thai Nguyen province) still welcomes many tourists, including many international visitors.
The attraction of Thai Hai comes from the green space spanning dozens of hectares, and more specifically the cultural space imbued with the Tay and Nung ethnic identity that is hard to find in any other tourist area.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai - owner of Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area, from a barren hill area, after many years of diligently planting trees and moving more than 30 ancient stilt houses of the Tay and Nung people from ATK Dinh Hoa, this place has become a unique stilt house village.
It is worth mentioning that among the hundreds of people living and working in the reserve, there are many people in unfortunate circumstances such as the sick, the elderly, the lonely, young people with unfinished studies...
Families living in the village together maintain their language, customs, rituals, costumes and organize traditional spiritual festivals, helping the Tay and Nung cultural identity to be naturally passed down in daily life.
Their daily work is planting trees, vegetables, tea, increasing production and participating in tourism activities, preserving the traditional cultural features of their people.
Coming here, visitors can immerse themselves in the cool space, living in traditional stilt houses located on acacia hills. Each stilt house has its own mission: herbal medicine house, green tea house, wine house, then singing preservation house…
Not only can visitors enjoy the art of Then singing, Tinh lute, participate in unique festivals, play folk games or make campfires, but they can also grow vegetables, pick tea, build stilt houses, cast nets to catch fish, pound rice with pestles, etc. to better understand the lives of the people of this land.
