After many days of searching, at 5:00 p.m. on October 23, rescuers and family members were able to remove the body of Phung Van T, the last victim of a pickup truck carrying three people buried on Highway 279, passing through Minh Luong commune, from the landslide area.

Where victim Phung Van T was found.

According to information from the People's Committee of Minh Luong commune, at about 11:20 a.m. on October 23, search forces and family members discovered that below the landslide site at Km 133+600, National Highway 279, a Nissan Navara pickup truck with license plate 24A-348.02 carrying 3 people was buried under rocks and soil with many flying insects. Suspecting that the body of victim Phung Van T was lying there, search forces from Minh Luong, Nam Xe and Van Ban communes dug up rocks and soil to search.

Because the area where the victim's body was suspected to be buried was under the Minh Luong hydroelectric reservoir, it was impossible to bring in machinery and the search team had to use rudimentary means to dig. After many hours of digging through the earth and rocks to search, at 3:00 p.m., they discovered part of the body and at 4:30 p.m., they reached the entire body to identify it.

By 5 p.m. the same day, the authorities and the victim's family had carried out identification procedures and determined that the buried body was Phung Van T (born in 1980), residing in Tu Ha village, Nam Xe commune. Immediately afterwards, the authorities handed over the body to the family for burial in Khanh Yen commune (the victim's hometown) according to local customs.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 29, 2025, the People's Committee of Nam Xe commune received information from local people that at 7:30 a.m. on the same day, Mr. Hoang Van D (born in 1988), manager of Nam Tu Tren Hydropower Plant, drove a Nissan Navara pickup truck with license plate 24A-348.02 from the commune center along National Highway 279 towards Minh Luong commune and Van Ban commune. There were 2 people in the car, Mr. Hoang Duc G (born in 1990), residing in Van Ban commune, and Mr. Phung Van T (born in 1980), residing in Tu Ha village, Nam Xe commune.

At about 5:00 p.m. on September 29, the family could not contact the people in the car so they notified the authorities to organize a search. Immediately after receiving the information, the commune authorities and the police of Minh Luong, Nam Xe, and Van Ban communes mobilized forces and means to search and rescue. At about 12:00 p.m. on October 2, 2025, the search and rescue team found the car buried in the area of ​​Km 133+600, National Highway 279 in Minh Luong commune, Lao Cai province (Pom Khen area). At about 5:00 a.m. on October 3, 2025, the rescue team completed the removal of the bodies of the two victims, Hoang Van D and Hoang Duc G, to hand over to their families.

Thus, after 24 days of searching, the three victims of the pickup truck carrying three people buried on Highway 279, passing through Minh Luong commune, have now been found.
