Condolences on the impact of Typhoon Chido in the Mayotte archipelago

Vietnamese leaders have sent condolences to French leaders upon learning that typhoon Chido caused serious damage to people and property in the Mayotte archipelago.

On December 17, President Luong Cuong sent a message of condolences to President Emmanuel Macron, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a message of condolences to Prime Minister François Bayrou, after Typhoon Chido caused serious damage to people and property in the Mayotte archipelago, an overseas territory of France in the Indian Ocean.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son sent a message of sympathy to Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean Noel Barrot.

On December 15, Le Monde newspaper quoted local officials as expressing concern that “thousands of people” may have died after super typhoon Chido swept through the French overseas territory of Mayotte, leaving behind serious damage not seen in the past 90 years./.
