Working delegation of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee inspected storm and flood prevention work at medical facilities

On the afternoon of September 30, a working delegation of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee led by Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected storm and flood prevention work at a number of medical facilities in the province.

At Lao Cai General Hospital No. 1, the working delegation listened to the hospital leaders report on the plan for natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue. Comrade Vu Thi Hien Hanh highly appreciated the proactive spirit and responsibility of the unit in responding to natural disasters. She requested the hospital to specify the plan for transporting patients in rainy and flood conditions; arrange suitable means of transport such as canoes and ambulances; clearly assign responsibilities to each individual; organize emergency services at Facility 2 and strengthen coordination with hospitals in the area in receiving, triaging and treating patients when emergencies occur, ensuring communication and mutual support in all situations. Regarding logistics and facilities, she directed the hospital to fully prepare medical supplies, medicines, chemicals, food, provisions and fuel reserves, paying special attention to ensuring the safety of the medicine warehouse. At the same time, it is required to arrange forces on duty 24/7, ready to support lower-level units when requested.

On this occasion, the delegation visited and encouraged two patients injured by storm No. 10 who are being treated at the hospital.

Next, the delegation inspected the situation and visited and encouraged the staff and doctors of Viet Hong Commune Health Station, a unit that suffered heavy damage due to the circulation of storm No. 10. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts to maintain medical examination and treatment in the condition of severely damaged facilities and requested the Department of Health to quickly support generators and mobilize medical personnel to support Viet Hong Commune Health Station in medical examination and treatment. Also here, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed the Provincial Military Command to urgently coordinate with local authorities to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, repair damaged facilities, and ensure that the Health Station soon returns to normal operation, without interrupting people's access to medical services. Through inspection, it was shown that the Lao Cai Provincial Health Department has proactively and seriously implemented plans to prevent and combat storms and floods at medical facilities, ready to respond to all situations to ensure that medical examination and treatment activities are not interrupted.

Given the complicated developments of the storm, in the coming days, the entire industry will continue to review high-risk areas, supplement supplies, medicines, emergency transport vehicles, and at the same time strengthen coordination with local authorities and functional forces to promptly handle situations arising from the impact of the storm./.
