According to the British Livestock and Horticulture Board (AHDB), the business delegation's visit was jointly organized by the British Consulate General and the British Business Association in Vietnam. The delegation included leading and reputable pork producers such as GPS Food Group Ltd., Norwest Foods International Ltd. and Dunbia, which are known for their high standards of quality, food safety and animal welfare.

During the program, the delegation will work with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine in Hanoi to share information on the pig farming and production system. In Ho Chi Minh City, the delegation plans to organize a trade seminar with presentations, business connections and a discussion session on the characteristics of pork in the UK and the favorable conditions from bilateral trade agreements.

“Since Vietnam and the UK successfully negotiated the Export Quarantine Certificate for pork in November 2022, British businesses have shown increasing interest in the Vietnamese market . British pork is of high quality, meeting strict standards on food safety and animal welfare, which Vietnamese customers highly value,” said Matthew Albon-Crouch, UK Agriculture Attaché in Vietnam.

According to the report “Connecting the UK and Vietnam in Agriculture, Food and Beverage” 2024 by Edelman Public & Government Affairs (EGA), the UK's food and beverage exports to Vietnam increased by 97% in the period 2020 - 2023, reaching 154 million USD.

The UK’s accession to the CPTPP from December 2024, along with the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), is expected to continue to create a strong boost for bilateral trade. Thanks to reduced tariffs and improved customs procedures, many UK food, beverage, cosmetic and consumer goods will have a competitive advantage when entering the Vietnamese market.

In 2024, exports of goods from the UK to Vietnam increased by 9.9% and this trend is forecast to continue in 2025. Experts say that with the advantage of international standards and traceability, British pork will have many opportunities to expand its market share in Vietnam, especially when the demand for high-quality products in large cities is increasing.
