On the afternoon of September 29, at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (Ministry of National Defense) held a ceremony to welcome officers and staff of Engineering Team No. 3 who had completed their mission at the United Nations Interim Security Mission in Abyei (UNISFA) back home.
Due to heavy rain, the welcoming ceremony for the 3rd Engineering Team was held quickly but still ensured solemnity.
Immediately after the plane carrying the 3rd Engineering Team landed at Noi Bai International Airport, 164 members of the 3rd Engineering Team attended the flag-raising ceremony solemnly held at VIP area A.
Presiding over the welcoming ceremony, Colonel Mac Duc Trong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, congratulated Engineering Team No. 3 on successfully completing its mission in Abyei, leaving a good impression on the mission, local people and international friends.
"We are proud of you, comrades, and I believe you are also proud of what you have done over the past year. On behalf of the Party Committee and the command of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, I would like to sincerely thank you for your contributions to the noble humanitarian mission of the United Nations," Colonel Mac Duc Trong expressed.
The 3rd Engineer Team of the Vietnam People's Army was deployed to the UNISFA mission from 25 September 2024.

Despite many difficulties such as harsh climate and complex security, thanks to the spirit of overcoming difficulties and scientific solutions, the projects are all of high quality and are rated excellent.
The team also undertakes site clearance for the Nigerian unit's smart barracks project, ensuring compliance with technical requirements.
In addition, the 3rd Engineering Team is the pioneer force, applying K-31 technology for the first time to treat the airport ground in Abyei, bringing sustainable dust and water resistance, ending the need for daily watering.
The helipads at the Mission Headquarters and at outlying bases such as Agok, Rumamier, Diffra and Noong - considered the mission's transport, ambulance and mobility lifelines - were all constructed and upgraded by the Construction Team with superior quality, contributing to ensuring absolute safety for air transport.

In addition, the Vietnam 3rd Engineer Team also carried out civil mobilization activities, supporting the local community, bringing practical and long-term effects to the lives of the Abyei people, typically: Providing daily drinking water at the Highway base and for schools and communities; organizing free medical examination and treatment, donating medicine, rice, tables and chairs, learning equipment and many necessities to the people; renovating public works such as schools, hospitals, radio stations, and residential roads; organizing humanitarian activities and cultural exchanges such as showing children's films, instructing folk games and performing traditional Vietnamese martial arts, leaving a close bond with the local community...
Thanks to its sense of responsibility, creativity and professionalism, Engineer Team No. 3 has affirmed the prestige and mettle of the Vietnamese engineering force in United Nations peacekeeping operations, and received a letter of commendation from the UNISFA mission leadership, recognizing its efforts to excellently complete its mission.
