Identifying digital transformation as a key task, both urgent and long-term strategic, the Farmers' Association of Bac Ninh province closely follows the direction of the Central and Provincial Party Committee, issuing many action plans. Chairman of the Association Nguyen Hoang Trung said: "Promoting farmers to participate in digital transformation is the key to sustainable development, focusing on two directions: Improving the capacity to apply information technology and connecting agricultural product consumption on digital platforms". From skills training courses to IoT and e-commerce applications, this journey not only improves productivity but also expands the market, affirming the position of Bac Ninh farmers.
The project to improve the capacity of applying information technology for farm owners, production households and good businesses in the period of 2021-2025 is quite outstanding. Through hundreds of propaganda sessions, distributing 4,000 leaflets and training courses, the Association helps farmers use smartphones to manage production, promote and sell online. The Association cooperates in building the MCA software - a system for managing production processes and connecting supply and demand, integrating six subsystems to serve five target groups. Farmers can look up techniques, weather forecasts, experience in disease prevention, and effective product promotion...
To make the software effective, the Association organized 15 training courses for more than 1,000 members, providing guidance on exploiting MCA. At the same time, four IoT models were deployed in cultivation and livestock farming, reducing costs, increasing productivity, and forming a scientific and transparent production foundation. Digital transformation also extended to consumption: the Association coordinated with the Provincial Post Office to train more than 1,200 cooperative members, bringing more than 300 products to the Postmart, Voso, and Shopee platforms.
Thanks to that, many typical products such as Hoa Dao honey, PKT shrimp paste with meat, Tan An melon, Dong Ky hill chicken have appeared online, participated in fairs, and promoted the OCOP brand. The association connects supermarkets, promotes trade, and promotes the value chain. A typical example is the effective model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, Tan An ward, applying IoT to grow melon on an area of over 2,000 m², increasing productivity by 20-25% and saving costs. Mr. Nguyen Huu Quy's household, Dong Ky commune, uses biotechnology to raise free-range chickens on a scale of 40,000 chickens/year, earning more than 2 billion VND, creating jobs for dozens of workers; or Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung's household, Tien Du commune, applies digital technology in management, bringing 4-star OCOP shrimp paste to 60 agents and exporting to ASEAN countries...
These models demonstrate the effectiveness of digital transformation, demonstrate the leading role of the Association, and concretize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, in which digital transformation promotes green growth, increases production value and rural income. Thanks to that, farmers' awareness changes as more and more people use smartphones and social networks to access the market; MCA and IoT software form an open data network, supporting management, traceability, market forecasting, and building a new model rural area.
A pioneering farmer example is Ms. Nguyen Thi Tram, born in 1990, Nhat Trai village, Trung Chinh commune. Facing the fear of "good harvest, low price", in 2014 she established Hai Phong Company, investing in the production of vegetables and fruits in greenhouses using Israeli technology. Initially facing difficulties in capital and experience, she participated in training courses of the Farmers' Association, learning from Lam Dong and Ho Chi Minh City. Her family's farm is more than 5 hectares, with 1.3 hectares of greenhouses, 0.7 hectares of net houses using drip irrigation and hydroponics systems. Clean products, reduced pesticides, focusing on melons, baby cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes... The farm harvests 30-40 tons/month, with a revenue of 6-8 billion VND/year and creates jobs for dozens of workers with an income of 6-14 million VND/month.
According to the representative of the Farmers' Association, in the coming time, the Association will promote its core role, train digital skills, and develop smart production models. In the 2023-2025 term, the Association will coordinate to open science and technology training courses, support biotechnology application models, build 21 OCOP products; supply materials such as deferred fertilizers and biological products. In the new 2025-2030 term, the Association aims to maintain 70% of Phu Lang craft village households producing pottery, combining digitalization.
In the coming time, with more than 187,000 members participating in the digital platform, the Association's goal by 2030 will be to have about 70% of members with digital skills, thousands of households participating in e-commerce. Bac Ninh is realizing modern digital agriculture, leading the Red River Delta; at the same time, the Association has established more cooperatives and cooperatives, focusing on social security. Digital transformation is not only a tool but also a revolution in thinking, helping Bac Ninh farmers confidently integrate and contribute to the development of their homeland.
