Tourists flock to Lim festival

People and tourists from all over the world flock to Lim festival to listen to Quan Ho singing.

On the morning of February 21 (January 12 of the year of the Dragon), Lim Festival - the biggest festival in Kinh Bac - Bac Ninh region officially opened.

This is one of the typical traditional festivals of Kinh Bac region with the incense offering ritual at Hong An pagoda, the mausoleum of General Nguyen Dinh Dien on Lim hill, then carrying the royal decree from Dinh Ca communal house to Lo Bao communal house and offering incense according to traditional rituals at communal houses, temples, pagodas in villages of Noi Due commune, Lien Bao commune, Lim town.

Today is not the main festival but a large number of tourists flock to Lim festival.

Like every year, the Lim Spring Festival of Giap Thin in 2024 consists of two parts: ceremony and festival, held in three communes of the former Noi Due commune, now Lim town, Noi Due commune and Lien Bao commune. The center of the festival is Lim mountain, Lim town.

Although today, February 21, is not the main festival, tourists have flocked here to offer incense at Hong An Pagoda, the tomb of General Nguyen Dinh Dien on Lim Hill, and to attend the festival, enjoying the soulful and lyrical Quan Ho melodies.

According to the Lim Festival Organizing Committee, this is a traditional festival held on January 12 and 13 every year with the following activities: Incense offering; Quan Ho singing on boats; singing at camps and artisans' families; performances on the main stage and folk games.

Ensuring security and order, food safety and hygiene, posting product prices, parking fees, and traffic are focused on by the Organizing Committee and relevant forces.

This year is the first year that Lim Festival applies the criteria set on traditional festival cultural environment according to the Decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The content of the criteria is publicly posted in the central areas of the festival.

In recent years, the management and organization of festivals in Tien Du district in general and Lim Festival in particular have received focused attention and direction from all levels and sectors, and have had many positive changes, implementing well the State's regulations.

Coordination, guidance and inspection of festivals have been strengthened. Most festivals are solemnly organized with rich, diverse, practical content, in accordance with regulations, imbued with the traditional cultural identity of Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac.

Explaining the story of the Quan Ho singer "raising his hat to beg for money", Meritorious Artist Xuan Mui affirmed that it is not a matter of asking or giving, but rather "thuong", another way of saying reward but with more formal and polite words.

The story of giving money does not only appear in Quan Ho performances, but also in other types of performing arts such as Cheo, Tuong, and Cai Luong. That shows the love, respect, and appreciation of the audience for the artists who give them meaningful and impressive performances.

Tomorrow, February 22 (January 13), the Lim festival will carry out a procession of royal edicts from Dinh Ca communal house to Lo Bao communal house and offer incense according to traditional rituals at communal houses, temples, and pagodas in villages of Noi Due commune, Lien Bao commune, and Lim town.

Along with the ceremony, the festival takes place at the center of Lim hill and Van Tuong Lake area with many folk games such as: Quan Ho antiphonal singing, Quan Ho singing, swinging, traditional wrestling, dragon dancing...
