Fans expecting a camera revolution on the Galaxy S26 series are likely to be sorely disappointed.
The latest leak suggests that the S26 Pro will continue to reuse image sensors that have been around for years, a controversial move that raises big questions about Samsung's innovation strategy.
According to reputable leakster Erencan Yilmaz, information extracted from the One UI 8.5 software build paints a not-so-bright picture for the camera system of the Galaxy S26 Pro (the supposed name of the standard Galaxy S26).

Leaked information about Galaxy S26 Pro on social network X.
Specifically, the source confirmed that the S26 Pro will be equipped with a 50MP ISOCELL GN3 main sensor. Notably, this is the sensor that Samsung has used for 4 generations, since the Galaxy S22.
The other cameras are no better, with the 10MP telephoto camera and 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera said to be carried over from the S22 and S23. Even the selfie camera is the same type that appeared on the S23.
If this information is true, this would be an alarming "marking time" step in Samsung's photography hardware.
Besides the old camera cluster, the configuration of the device also does not create much excitement. The Galaxy S26 Pro is expected to be equipped with the "homegrown" Exynos 2600 chip, a chip that is predicted to have difficulty competing in performance with the rival Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 from Qualcomm.

The Galaxy S25 successor may still be "standing still".
The rare bright spot in this series of leaks is the battery capacity. The device is said to have a 4,300mAh battery, a worthy upgrade compared to the 4,000mAh on the S25, bringing hope for better usage time.
However, with a camera system that lacks breakthroughs, a questionable chip, and the news that the Galaxy S26 Edge series has been canceled, the future of Samsung's 2026 flagship line is becoming more gloomy than ever.
Is the South Korean tech giant running out of tricks or is this just a temporary strategy? The answer will be revealed at the launch event scheduled for early next year.
