Fish prices in Hai Duong are down

Falling fish prices have affected the farming activities of some farmers in Hai Duong.

Due to low fish prices, many fish farmers in Hai Duong are suffering losses.

According to some fish farmers in Hai Duong city, Tu Ky district, Gia Loc district..., fish prices are currently low. On June 24, tilapia of 2.5 kg/fish cost 33,000 VND/kg, grass carp of 4-5 kg/fish cost 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg, carp of 3 kg/fish cost 40,000 - 42,000 VND/kg, all down 5,000 - 10,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year.

With this selling price, aquaculture farmers only make a profit of 3,000 VND/kg of fish, many households break even, or even suffer losses if during the farming process there are many losses or the fish get sick.

Due to low fish prices, some households are raising fish sparingly, while others are abandoning their ponds to avoid losses.

According to households, the reason for the low fish prices is that they have to go through many intermediaries, increasing the retail price but reducing the purchase price at the pond. In addition, the supply of food such as chicken, shrimp, and pork in the market is quite abundant, causing the demand for fish to decrease, thereby pushing the prices down.
