Not only stopping at supporting kidney function, up to now, the Vietnamese emergency resuscitation and anti-poisoning industry has gone further with many advanced techniques to support multiple organs such as: hemofiltration adsorption to remove cytokines and endotoxins in septic shock; adsorption filtration in poisoning; plasma exchange filtration...

In particular, extracorporeal membrane carbon dioxide removal, a solution to support lung function in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) on mechanical ventilation with lung-protective ventilation strategy.

Professor, Dr. Nguyen Gia Binh commented: "In the current trend, the Vietnamese Government is focusing on promoting digital transformation in healthcare, so the emergency resuscitation and anti-poisoning industry needs to implement and deploy more digital solutions; treatment data connection platforms, to optimize the care of critically ill patients, helping clinical decision-making to be more accurate and timely."

With the orientation of “Innovation-Creation-For Patients”, Vantive Vietnam needs to continue to inherit Baxter’s 20-year legacy of kidney care in Vietnam, and be a reliable companion of the Vietnamese emergency resuscitation-anti-poisoning industry in the journey to improve the quality of kidney patient treatment; at the same time, help patients with severe kidney disease access more advanced, safe and effective therapies.

Sharing about the kidney disease situation in our country, Associate Professor, Doctor Le Dinh Khanh, President of the Vietnam Urology-Nephrology Association said: Currently, the kidney disease situation in Vietnam is alarming with a trend of rejuvenation. Currently, the rate of chronic kidney disease in the country accounts for 8% to 12% of the population, of which about 0.1% of kidney patients are in the final stage.

The cause is an unhealthy lifestyle such as eating a lot of processed foods, eating foods with excess energy; abusing stimulants, smoking; lack of exercise; arbitrarily using pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, oriental medicine, drugs of unknown origin, without the guidance of a doctor..., contributing to the increase in the situation of kidney failure in Vietnam in recent times.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Khanh exchanged information at the launching ceremony.

Notably, in Vietnam, the number of patients with end-stage renal failure is increasing, but the rate of patients accessing renal replacement therapy is still limited due to many factors such as cost, facilities, human resources and public awareness.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Khanh added: Currently, patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease can access three renal replacement therapies: Kidney transplantation, hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD). Of these, kidney transplantation is the optimal choice, helping to restore almost complete kidney function, but is limited by organ donation sources and high costs.

Next is hemodialysis, the most common today, however patients have to go to the hospital several times a week, depending on the machine and fixed treatment time.

For peritoneal dialysis - this is considered a development trend in modern chronic kidney treatment. The highlight of this method is that patients can perform treatment at home (can do manual dialysis or more conveniently have an automatic dialysis machine - APD), proactively manage their time, can still go to work, go to school, and maintain normal activities.

After the announcement ceremony, Vantive cooperated with the Vietnam Medical Association and the Vietnam Urology-Nephrology Association to organize the seminar "Home Peritoneal Dialysis: Current Situation and Solutions".

This is an opportunity for leading experts in the field of nephrology at home and abroad to discuss the actual needs in the treatment of end-stage chronic kidney disease in Vietnam; the difficulties of medical facilities when implementing peritoneal dialysis, especially problems in prescribing and paying for insurance for medical equipment for outpatients.
