Hanoi-Vientiane strengthen solidarity, friendship and promote cooperation

On the basis of the special friendship between the two Parties, two States and two peoples, the two capitals of Hanoi and Vientiane maintain a deep and affectionate relationship, promote cooperation and mutual support.

On June 28, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Lan Huong and President of the Lao Front Committee for National Construction in Vientiane (Laos) Thanome Thamthong chaired a meeting to exchange experiences on Front work and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the 2023-2025 period.

At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong expressed her joy at welcoming the delegation of the Lao Front Committee for National Construction in Vientiane Capital to visit and work in Hanoi; at the same time, she informed about some outstanding results achieved by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in the city, contributing to the successful implementation of the economic , cultural and social development goals, maintaining national defense and security of the Capital and the country.

According to Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, the special Vietnam-Laos relationship was founded by the great leaders of the two nations, President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and nurtured by the crystallization of many generations of leaders, military and people of the two countries. It has been increasingly consolidated and constantly developed, becoming an exemplary model of loyalty, purity, steadfastness, and "uniqueness" in the relationship between nations.

On the basis of the great relationship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and two peoples, the two capitals of Hanoi and Vientiane maintain a deep and affectionate relationship, regularly cooperate in investment and trade, and support each other in all fields.

In particular, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the two sides regularly held phone calls and sent medical expert delegations to support epidemic prevention and control; demonstrating their concern, affection, and spirit of comradeship.

In 2013, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the Lao Front Committee for National Construction of Vientiane capital, opening a series of exchanges between the two sides.

Since then, the two Front Committees have taken turns organizing working delegations to visit and exchange experiences, enhancing mutual understanding. In the coming time, the two Front Committees will have specific, practical and in-depth cooperation activities.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong affirmed that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city will do its best to preserve and foster the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, forever green and everlasting, as President Ho Chi Minh advised: "Vietnam and Laos, our two countries, have a love deeper than the Red River and Mekong River" and the heartfelt words of President Souphanouvong: "Vietnam-Laos friendship is higher than mountains, longer than rivers, wider than the ocean, brighter than the full moon, more fragrant than the most fragrant flower" and in accordance with the wish of President Kaysone Phomvihane: "Mountains may wear away, rivers may dry up, but Vietnam-Laos friendship will forever be more lasting than mountains and rivers."

Expressing his gratitude for the warm, respectful and sincere welcome given to the Delegation, Mr. Thanome Thamthong, Chairman of the Lao Front Committee for National Construction in Vientiane, highly appreciated the achievements of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hanoi, especially the promotion of national solidarity, the tradition of harmony and patriotism of the Vietnamese people.

Mr. Thanome Thamthong was pleased to see that along with the foundation of developing relations between the two Parties, two States, two Capitals, the relations between the two Front Committees in recent years have achieved many good results. Thereby, contributing to fostering and consolidating the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Mr. Thanome Thamthong believes that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city will continue to promote its role and achieve more achievements in the coming time.

Also at the talks, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City and the Lao Front Committee for National Construction of Vientiane Capital for the period 2023-2025 took place.

Previously, on the afternoon of June 27, at a courtesy reception for the delegation of the Lao Front for National Construction Committee in Vientiane, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, informed about the socio-economic development situation as well as the development orientation of the city in the coming time.

By promoting its position and role, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city has made positive contributions to the construction and development of the capital./.
