The heroic spirit of Dong A through 'The Great Viet Map'

The Cai Luong play Buc Ngon Do Dai Viet (authors Ha Van Cau, Loan Thao, People's Artist Thanh Tong) is a classic work depicting the resistance war of the Tran Dynasty against the Yuan-Mongol army, now re-enacted by the Dai Viet Cai Luong Stage (HCMC), wearing a new coat under the talented direction of director - Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha.

The Dai Viet Map is a story about loyalty and patriotism, about sacrifice and human errors in the whirlpool of fame and wealth. Between the line of life and death of the nation's destiny, the personality and loyalty of each character are tested to the utmost, illuminating the indomitable spirit and love for the country.

The interesting highlight of this version is Meritorious Artist Tu Suong in the role of a double character alongside People's Artist Que Tran. Tu Suong fully portrayed a heroic Nguyen Phuc, a martial arts talent with full ambitions. But then, it was his desire for fame that pushed him down the wrong path. Even though he fell, he still did not lose his love for the country, so he knew how to turn around and leave in peace. In contrast, People's Artist Que Tran brought a Bao Tram with a graceful, soft appearance but a strong, sharp inner self. She clearly recognized right and wrong, was loyal to the Fatherland and wholeheartedly advised her husband, fully demonstrating the noble virtues of Vietnamese women.

Taking on the classic role that the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh left a deep impression on, Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam found a unique path for the character Nguyen Dia Lo. He disguised his voice to make it look older, combined with difficult dance moves, to create a brave and courageous veteran. In the inner scenes torn between personal love and greatness, Vo Minh Lam also performed excellently with his experienced stage presence.

Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha's directing language is sharp, with a fast, strong rhythm, sometimes fierce and heroic, sometimes calm. The duration is less than 3 hours but the play has conveyed a glorious era and profound questions about life. The stage is artistically shaped, combined with a modern LED screen to help the scenes transition smoothly.

Contributing to the overall success are talented actors such as Dien Trung, Kim Ngan, Minh Truong, Nha Thy, Pham Vu Thanh, Thanh Son, Le Thanh Thao, Huu Tai... together creating a Dai Viet Map that is both familiar and new.
