Ahead of the big match between Man Utd and Chelsea, Man Utd's major shareholder, Jim Ratcliffe, personally took a helicopter to Carrington on September 18 to meet with coach Amorim, CEO Omar Berrada and Director of Football Jason Wilcox.

Speaking about the meeting with the top leaders of Man Utd, Coach Amorim humorously said: “He offered to extend my contract. Actually, it was just a normal exchange to show support and emphasize that this is a long-term project.
He has repeatedly stated this in the past. I also speak to the two bosses Omar and Jason about daily matters. At this club, the pressure is probably the biggest in the world . Our goal is always to win.
Once again, Coach Amorim emphasized that he would not change his philosophy: “No one can force me to change my philosophy, not even the Pope. This is my job, my responsibility and my life. I will not change.
If I were a player and saw my coach changing the system just because of pressure, I would definitely look at him differently. We need to take the right steps, and I will do it my way.”
Coach Amorim was rumored to move to work at Benfica. However, recently, this club has just appointed coach Mourinho. Talking about the possibility of joining Benfica, the Portuguese coach refused: "No, there is no contact. Moreover, coach Mourinho is already there. I am the coach of Man Utd. Until something changes, whether it is next month, tomorrow or 10 years from now, then I will rest because I deserve it."

Regarding personnel, coach Amorim received good news when Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount returned to the squad to welcome Chelsea at Old Trafford, after being absent due to injury in the loss to Man City.
Despite the poor form, Amorim believes Man Utd are on the right track, but needs to improve their mentality to turn improved performances into concrete results. He added: “We have improved from last season, but we have to win.
If we don't win, it's all for nothing. It's a mental problem, we need to change. Sometimes the so-called luck comes from belief when playing. Teams like Liverpool always give the feeling that something good will happen. But with us, sometimes it's the opposite, playing well but then an unfavorable situation appears."
The match between Man Utd and Chelsea takes place at Old Trafford at 11:30 pm tonight. Man Utd is ranked 14th with 4 points after 4 matches. If the Red Devils continue to fail, coach Amorim will be under even more pressure.
