Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, there was comrade Dang Quoc Khanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and leaders of units under the Ministry.
On behalf of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, there was Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and leaders of the Association.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, said that currently the Government, all levels, sectors and localities have made many efforts, however, in the context of the world in general and Vietnam in particular, it is still heavily affected by climate change, environmental pollution, and resource degradation due to many subjective and objective reasons. Therefore, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong said that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is a Government agency, performing the function of state management of the country's resources such as: land; water resources; mineral and geological resources; environment; hydrometeorology; climate change; surveying and mapping; integrated management of resources and protection of the marine and island environment; remote sensing... so it is necessary to further strengthen propaganda, disseminate knowledge, organize activities, and skills to participate in climate change response activities and environmental protection for people to participate in, thereby mobilizing the combined strength of the entire population in this important task.
The Vietnam Veterans Association recognizes that the rapid and sustainable development of the country, taking economic and social development in conjunction with environmental protection and climate change adaptation is a key task in the coming time. Therefore, although the members of the Association have excellently fulfilled the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people, in the "war" with the task of environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and effective and sustainable exploitation of natural resources, the Vietnam Veterans Association is still ready to promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", taking the lead to join the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in preserving, protecting and developing the country to become greener, more beautiful and more sustainable.
Acknowledging the comments of Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh said that with the coordination program No. 540 on environmental protection and climate change response between the Vietnam Veterans Association and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for the period 2017-2022, the activities directed simultaneously from the Central to local levels have brought about effectiveness in environmental protection work, not only affecting awareness but also gradually changing and creating environmentally friendly living habits of Veterans Association members as well as the entire people and community.
Sharing more with the leaders of the Vietnam Veterans Association, currently from the strong commitments of the Prime Minister at COP26 to bring net emissions to "0" by 2050; announcing the Just Energy Transition Plan (JETP) of Vietnam at COP28 along with the efforts to mitigate, adapt and grow green in Vietnam in recent times. To the National Assembly passing the Land Law (amended), the Water Resources Law (amended) or building marine spatial plans that have been consulted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to aim at protecting the environment, adapting to climate change, restoring "dead rivers", strengthening strict management of mineral resources to unlock resources for national development...
With the prestige and responsibility of the Vietnam Veterans Association, of "Uncle Ho's Army", Minister Dang Quoc Khanh said that it is necessary to continue to have a Program to coordinate the implementation of tasks in the field of environmental resources and climate change response for the period 2024-2029 between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Vietnam Veterans Association and believes that all levels, sectors and especially the people are very supportive.
Minister Dang Quoc Khanh believes that the coordination between the two units will raise awareness, responsibility, promote the role of cadres, members and people in monitoring management activities, rational use of natural resources, environmental protection, and response to climate change. At the same time, promote propaganda, advocacy, and mobilize all social forces to protect the environment, respond to climate change, exploit and use national resources rationally and effectively, contributing to the sustainable development of the country...
At the ceremony, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh directed the units under the Ministry and specialized agencies on Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with local Associations and deploy the Coordination Program; coordinate with the Central Vietnam Veterans Association to organize the implementation of annual tasks on natural resources and environment in accordance with current regulations of the State.
COORDINATION CONTENT
1. Disseminate and raise awareness of policies and laws on resource management, environmental protection and climate change response, mobilize people and members of the Vietnam Veterans Association and exemplary families to comply with policies and laws, international treaties that Vietnam has participated in related to resources and environment.
2. Exchange and share experiences, provide knowledge and skills to Association officials and members of Veterans Associations at all levels regarding management activities, effective use of resources, environmental protection, and response to climate change.
3. Promote the tradition of "Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplary - Innovation" to participate in managing and effectively using resources, protecting the environment, and responding to climate change; discover and replicate models and typical veterans who do well in environmental protection and responding to climate change.
4. Organize conferences, seminars, policy and science and technology discussions on resources and environment.
5. Propaganda for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the Natural Resources and Environment sector to understand the Vietnam Veterans Ordinance.
