Talking to the Government Electronic Newspaper about the inappropriate location on the new Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway that drivers have reported, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) - the project investor - said: The Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project has just been technically opened to traffic and put into temporary operation to serve people traveling on the occasion of April 30, to reduce the load on inner-city routes of Ho Chi Minh City.

The location is being treated for weak ground and monitored for subsidence.

The location that people have reported is the section from Km14+380 to Km14+385 where VEC is treating the weak ground with two different technologies and this location is in the process of monitoring subsidence. Therefore, this section is in the process of being fully evaluated by the contractor and has not yet been accepted.

"After the driver's feedback was recorded and posted by Government Information, we directed the contractor to blow dust, clean the road surface and carry out compensation work today, October 4," said a VEC representative.

Previously, on October 2, 2025, the Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) said that the unit had captured a clip posted on a group reflecting on the shortcomings on the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, from Ho Chi Minh City to the southwestern provinces, near National Highway 50, where the road had sunk in places, creating a very dangerous embankment for passing vehicles.

Immediately after confirming that the people's feedback was correct, the Traffic Police Department directed the Highway Traffic Police Team No. 7 to send a document requesting the Vietnam Road Administration ( Ministry of Construction ) to promptly fix this inappropriate location and at the same time issue warnings for drivers to reduce speed when passing through here.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Project invested by VEC is part of the North - South Expressway axis, with a total length of 57.8km, passing through three localities: Long An (2.7km), Ho Chi Minh City (26.4km) and Dong Nai (28.7km). The total investment of the project is VND 29,587 billion, using loans from JICA, ADB, counterpart funds from the state budget and capital arranged by VEC.

On April 19, VEC opened 18km of this expressway. The route is part of the total length of more than 21km of the western section of the project, from the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong intersection (Km0+600) to the Nguyen Van Tao intersection (Km21+850), passing through Ben Luc and Can Giuoc districts (Long An), Binh Chanh and Nha Be districts (Ho Chi Minh City).

The route is designed according to class A expressway standards (TCVN 5729-1997), with 4 lanes and a design speed of 100 km/h.

Up to now, nearly 30km of Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway has been put into operation. This is an important premise for VEC to continue its efforts to complete the entire 57.8km route by 2026.

Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway connects Ben Luc District (Long An) with Long Thanh District (Dong Nai). When put into operation, the expressway will facilitate traffic between the Western and Southeastern provinces without having to go through the center of Ho Chi Minh City, shortening travel time, reducing transportation costs and promoting economic development, attracting investment and tourism for Dong Nai, Long An and Ho Chi Minh City.
