On the morning of October 10, the Management Board of Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Projects of Ho Chi Minh City held the groundbreaking ceremony of the project to dredge Da Do canal (from Nguyen Hoang street to Saigon river), in An Khanh ward and Binh Trung ward.

The project has a total investment of more than 86.7 billion VND from the city budget, aiming to improve the drainage system, beautify the urban landscape and enhance the quality of technical infrastructure in the area.
This is a key project started to welcome the 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the HCMC Urban Infrastructure Project Management Board - the investor, the project has a total dredging length of 1,760m, the canal bottom width is from 15-22.5m, and the average depth is about 1m.
Along both banks of the canal, a 1,570m long embankment will be built, a reinforced concrete drainage system will be installed, and two underground sewers with diameters of D1200mm and D1000mm will be installed.

In addition to improving drainage and reducing flooding, the project also builds canal-side walkways, plants trees, installs public lighting systems and renovates the urban landscape – aiming at the goal of sustainable, environmentally friendly urban development, improving the quality of life for people.
“We identified this as a project of special significance, so we proactively coordinated with departments and branches to speed up legal procedures, carefully prepare documents, design and select contractors according to regulations,” said Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung.
The construction contractor consortium includes: Dong My Construction Service Trading Company Limited, VICONA Company Limited, Hoa Sen Construction Joint Stock Company and Thanh Phat Construction Company Limited.

When completed, the project is expected to contribute to solving the flooding problem, creating a new look for the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City and enhancing the urban value along the Saigon River.
