The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued Official Dispatch No. 79/UBND-TNMT on strengthening state management measures on the burning of straw and crop by-products in Hanoi.

Accordingly, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment continues to monitor and synthesize the results of implementing Directive No. 15/CT-UBND of the City People's Committee on strengthening state management measures for the burning of straw, crop by-products and other wastes in violation of regulations to minimize negative impacts on the city's environment.

At the same time, the Department coordinates with the City's Emulation and Rewards Committee to synthesize and propose emulation and rewards for districts, towns and cities that do not allow straw burning; synthesize a list of districts with high rates of straw burning and send it to the City People's Committee Office for public posting on the City's Electronic Information Portal.

The City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and Industry and Trade to advise the City People's Committee on mechanisms and policies to encourage and support production and business models of all economic sectors using straw as input materials in the production process of goods, meeting market demand, bringing economic efficiency, and at the same time, contributing to the consumption of straw generated after harvest throughout the city.

The Department of Science and Technology presides over and coordinates with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to research and propose appropriate technologies for collecting, transporting and measures to treat straw in an environmentally friendly manner, ensuring public health.

Notably, the City People's Committee requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent straw burning, especially in areas near national highways, provincial roads, Noi Bai airport...
