Checking a jewelry store suspected of being made from ivory

Accordingly, Market Management Team No. 1 under the Market Management Department of Kien Giang province coordinated with the Environmental Police Department, Kien Giang Provincial Police to implement Plan No. 135/KHPH-ĐQLTT1-CSMT dated April 19, 2023 on coordinating inspection of business activities of endangered and rare animal products in Kien Giang province in 2023.

Specifically, at 9:30 a.m. on March 11, Market Management Team No. 1 under the Market Management Department of Kien Giang province presided over and coordinated with the Environmental Police Department of the Provincial Police to conduct a surprise inspection of 02 jewelry and fine art businesses in Vinh Thuan district, Kien Giang province.

Through inspection, the Inspection Team discovered that the above enterprises were trading in handicraft products with suspicious signs of being made from ivory.

The inspection team of Market Management Team No. 1 under the Market Management Department of Kien Giang province coordinated with the Environmental Police Department and the Provincial Police to make a record of temporary detention and sealing of all goods including: 26 plain round bracelets of various types, 20 finger rings to continue verifying, clarifying violations, and handling according to the provisions of law.

The total value of all the exhibits with signs of violations mentioned above is estimated at more than 66 million VND.
