Research and application of advanced technology to determine the origin, formation conditions, distribution rules and potential of gold minerals hidden deep in the anticline structure of Northwest Thanh Hoa

On September 26, 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a meeting of the Council for the evaluation and acceptance of the national-level S&T task: "Research and application of advanced technology to determine the origin, formation conditions, distribution laws and potential of gold minerals hidden deep in the anticline structure of northwestern Thanh Hoa, Code DTĐL.CN-85/21. This is one of the topics under the Basic Science Development Program in the fields of Chemistry, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences and Marine Sciences for the period 2017 - 2025 (Program 562).

The project is chaired by Prof. Dr. Truong Xuan Luan; the host organization is the University of Mining and Geology, aiming at the following goals: Clarifying the origin, formation conditions and distribution rules of gold hidden deep in the research area; Building a model of the origin of gold mineral formation deep in the research area; Proposing advanced methods to effectively investigate gold resources hidden deep in the research area.

Prof. Dr. Truong Xuan Luan, on behalf of the research team, briefly presented the research content and results of the task.

Reporting at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Truong Xuan Luan said that the Northwest Thanh Hoa region has a geological map at a scale of 1:50,000, and gold mineralization is recognized as having great potential, but previous studies have only been limited in scope, and no gold deposits have been explored. In particular, modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) have almost not been applied in structural analysis and prediction of hidden minerals.

After the implementation period, the research team has achieved remarkable results. The research results have been concretized in many products: A database of mineral geology in the research area managed by WebGIS technology; Scientific report on the nature of mineralization, origin, formation conditions and distribution rules of hidden gold in the research area; Model of origin of hidden gold minerals in the research area; Artificial intelligence model for assessing the potential of hidden gold minerals in the research area; Report proposing the application of advanced technology complex to effectively investigate hidden gold mineralization in the research area; Summary report of research results of the topic; 2 international reports in the SCOPUS journal system; 3 published in domestic journals; 02 published and published in the Proceedings of the National Scientific Conference; at the same time successfully trained 3 masters and supported the training of 1 doctor.

The members of the Acceptance Council highly appreciated the contributions of the project manager and the host agency and unanimously accepted the project as "Passed". At the same time, they requested the research team to absorb the content and make appropriate edits, complete the dossier and submit it to the Ministry of Science and Technology for a decision to recognize the results of the task.
