Accordingly, on October 27, 2005, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Eye Center was officially established, on the basis of separation from the ophthalmology department of the provincial hospital 2. In 2014, the center was upgraded to a 100-bed hospital and in 2017, it was given financial autonomy in group II.

Up to now, the hospital has examined and treated over 1 million outpatients, performed over 64,000 surgeries, contributing greatly to the work of eliminating blindness. In the coming time, the hospital will attract more human resources, improve professional skills, expand technical services, invest in developing breakthrough specialized spearheads, and develop community eye care.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Eye Hospital over the past 20 years. The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector believe that with solidarity and responsibility, the hospital will develop further thanks to the application of modern science and technology, meeting the medical examination and treatment needs of the people.
