Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Kon Plong District Liberation Day

On the evening of October 12, at the Central Square of Mang Den town, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Liberation Day (October 12, 1974 - October 12, 2024).

50 years ago, with the revolutionary offensive spirit of the people and soldiers of the whole country, the army and people of Kon Tum province in general and Kon Plong district in particular achieved a resounding victory on the Mang Den and Mang Buk battlefields.

To ensure secret operations for revolutionary cadres, at the end of 1956, Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee re-divided the districts and assigned new code names for convenience in command.

Kon Plông district is divided into two code names H16 and H29, this is the resistance base of Kon Tum province in the resistance war against the US and the puppet regime.

On October 3, 1974, the armed forces of H29 and H16 districts, along with the main force of Regiment 28 (Division 10) and a number of technical troops opened fire to attack and destroy the Mang Den stronghold cluster.

After 9 days of continuous fighting, with determination to fight and win, on October 12, 1974, the liberation army crushed all enemy resistance, occupied and completely controlled Mang Den stronghold.

The resounding victory of Mang Den and before that of Mang Buk liberated nearly 2,000 people of Kon Plong district, creating a new position and strength with the army and people in the province to advance to liberate Kon Tum province (March 16, 1975), contributing with the army and people of the whole country to liberate the Central Highlands, paving the way to completely liberate the South and unify the country.

With its important historical role and significance in the resistance war against the US, Mang Den Historical Relic was ranked as a National Historical Relic on April 13, 2000. This is the honor and pride of the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Kon Tum province in general, Kon Plong district in particular, and is a red address to educate the revolutionary tradition for the young generation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Kon Plong District People's Committee Dang Quang Ha affirmed that over the past 50 years, the Party Committee and people of Kon Plong District have promoted the tradition of solidarity, creativity, and heroic spirit in the resistance war, achieving many achievements in socio -economic development.

The total production value of the district by 2023 will reach more than 4,100 billion VND. The average income per capita will reach 40 million VND/person/year. The district's Mang Den National Ecotourism Area is an attractive destination for tourists...

At the 50th Anniversary of Kon Plong District Liberation Day, Comrade Le Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, announced the good news that the Prime Minister had approved the Master Plan for the construction of Mang Den Tourist Area until 2045 in Decision No. 1128/QD-TTg dated October 8, 2024.

This is the premise for attracting investment and developing Kon Plông district in the new period.

On this occasion, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded Certificates of Merit to the Party Committee, government and people of Kon Plong district and the People's Committee of Kon Tum province awarded Certificates of Merit to the collective of people and officials of Kon Plong district for their outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Kon Plong district.

After the ceremony, delegates and the masses enjoyed the art program with the theme "The homeland forever echoes the heroic victory song" performed by the Art Troupe of Military Region 5.
