Quang Ngai: Focus on repairing educational facilities damaged by earthquake

On October 9, information from the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that it had issued a document directing departments, branches and localities to strengthen monitoring and response to earthquake aftershocks in the context of many earthquakes continuously recorded in the area.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requested localities, especially the communes of Mang But, Kon Plong, Mang Den, Mang Ri, Tu Mo Rong, Dak Pxi, Dak Koi, Son Tay, Son Tay Thuong, to review and fully count the damage, report before October 15 to promptly propose support; guide earthquake response skills and stabilize the psychology of people, especially ethnic minorities.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Industry and Trade to provide guidance on ensuring the safety of hydroelectric and irrigation dams; at the same time, request dam owners to strengthen inspection and review, promptly detect and fix incidents and damages to ensure the safety of works during the rainy and stormy season.

The Department of Education and Training and local authorities were assigned to mobilize resources to overcome damage at schools and educational facilities, ensuring safety for students and teachers.

As reported by SGGP Newspaper, from 0:41 to 11:49 on October 6, 15 earthquakes occurred in Quang Ngai province, the largest of which had a magnitude of 4.9, a level 1 natural disaster risk, causing strong tremors, affecting many schools and houses.
