Lam Dong speeds up progress of shared database project

On October 16, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee held a working session to listen to a progress report on the implementation of the Project "Building a shared geospatial database system of the province". Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.

Shared database helps individuals and organizations access and exploit data, effectively serving professional work.

According to the Department of Science and Technology, the province is implementing the project "Building a shared geographic spatial database system for Lam Dong province" (GIS system) to create a unified platform for management, exploitation and information sharing among sectors and fields.

The project focuses on building an open data portal to serve people and businesses, providing geographic data layers at a scale of 1:25,000,000, including the province's general planning, land use planning, minerals, forestry , agriculture, urban and rural planning and administrative maps of units in Lam Dong province.

On that basis, the system will be fully updated with specialized data layers including: Land, minerals, forestry, agriculture, environmental monitoring, remote sensing images, hydrometeorology, etc.

Currently, the project is implementing the construction of application subsystems to serve the direction and administration of the province; at the same time, implementing management decentralization to the commune, ward, and special zone levels and publicizing information so that the community, people, and businesses can easily look up and exploit data.

The integration of information of each department and branch must be standardized and reasonable. Operation and security regulations must ensure safety and efficiency in data exploitation.

The total investment capital of the project is more than 773 billion VND, of which the central budget capital is 642 billion VND, the local budget capital is nearly 131 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2025 to 2026.

Representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism gave their opinions at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Phuc requested all departments and branches to participate in the project. Depending on the field and specialty, units and localities must select, convert and integrate to put information on the province's shared data.

In particular, specific data groups serving the promotion work and key tasks of the province: OCOP, water environment, tourism, etc. need to be researched and integrated into the system soon.
