As Head of the Social Charity Committee and Head of the School Sponsorship Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Thanh Hoa province, Buddhist nun Thich Dam Huong, abbot of Tang Phuc pagoda, Ham Rong ward, Thanh Hoa province, is always dedicated to charity work, helping the needy and unfortunate, and promoting the kindness and compassion of Buddhism.

Returning to the roots, every year, Buddhist nun Thich Dam Huong, along with monks, nuns, and Buddhists, does a good job of humanitarian charity work, "Repaying gratitude", such as: Supporting money for orphans, homeless children, disabled children, children infected with Agent Orange; supporting poor students to overcome difficulties, people affected by natural disasters and floods; supporting the construction of many gratitude houses, solidarity houses... with a total amount of hundreds of millions of VND/year. Specifically, the nun has mobilized Buddhists, people, and businesses to contribute to charity work, building nearly 30 solidarity houses, worth from 30 to 50 million VND/house. In the 5 years from 2020 to 2025, the nun mobilized more than 4.07 billion VND for humanitarian charity work; helping 16,000 people. Currently, Tang Phuc Pagoda is sponsoring 5 children in difficult circumstances, helping them gain more motivation, overcome adversity, and continue going to school.

From 2022 to now, Venerable Thich Dam Huong and monks, nuns and Buddhists of Tang Phuc Pagoda have organized charity porridge cooking for patients being treated at the Eye Hospital and Thanh Hoa Oncology Hospital; together with members of the Social Charity Board and the School Sponsorship Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Thanh Hoa province, they have mobilized and supported an average of more than 30 monks and nuns to study at Buddhist schools and study abroad with hundreds of millions of VND, many monks and nuns have graduated with PhDs and Masters degrees and returned to serve the Sangha...

Recently, storm No. 10 (Bualoi) made landfall in several localities, causing great damage to people and property. Sympathizing and sharing the losses of people in areas affected by the storm, with the spirit of "compassion" of Buddhism and the tradition of mutual love "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves - the less torn leaves cover the more torn leaves" of the nation, Buddhist nun Thich Dam Huong and the Social Charity Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Thanh Hoa province called on monks, nuns, Buddhists, people, philanthropists, and businesses to support in order to promptly contribute to soothing, helping, and encouraging people in flood-affected areas and affected areas to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives. Responding to the call, with donations from people and businesses, more than 300 gifts were sent to support people in Ham Rong ward, Thanh Hoa province. The Social Charity Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Thanh Hoa province and Tang Phuc Pagoda have also prepared more than 600 gifts to send to people in areas affected by natural disasters and floods.

Promoting the good cultural values ​​of the Khmer ethnic group

With the characteristic of being a hamlet with a large Khmer ethnic group, in recent times, the Executive Committee of the Thanh Son Commune Women's Union has actively implemented the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's", in many diverse and vivid forms suitable for each target group such as: Diverse propaganda in 2 languages ​​Vietnamese - Khmer, direct propaganda at branches, groups, thematic activities: "women with the environment", "building a family of 5 no's, 3 books associated with preserving Khmer identity", "women participating in building new rural areas".

As a typical member of the Women's Union of Soc Cha A hamlet, Tra Cu commune, Vinh Long province, Ms. Kim Thi Via Rinh always demonstrates solidarity, gathering, propagating, educating , mobilizing, organizing and guiding women in the hamlet to implement the Party's policies and the State's laws.

Implementing the National Target Program "Socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030", Ms. Via Rinh and the members of the association promoted practical activities and movements to support members and Khmer women to develop their family economy and improve their lives, associated with the implementation of the movements "Women help each other develop the economy", "Help poor women have addresses", thereby supporting 68 poor and near-poor households with addresses to escape poverty (including 59 Khmer members). Ms. Via Rinh also participated in mobilizing Khmer women with children of military service age, including mobilizing 1 ethnic youth to volunteer to join the military in 2025.

In addition, Ms. Via Rinh consulted with the Hamlet Head, coordinated with the Commune Women's Union to organize propaganda and established 5 clubs with 121 members (of which 98 members are Khmer). The clubs not only focus on preventing and combating bad customs but also encourage the preservation and promotion of good cultural values ​​of the Khmer ethnic group. She also coordinated with the Union to mobilize Khmer women to participate in a training course on how to classify and treat waste at households for 50 members to participate in the model of "classifying waste at households"...

In order to create conditions for women members, especially Khmer women, to have the opportunity to learn a trade, improve their skills, and develop their family economy, Ms. Via Rinh proactively coordinated with the Hamlet People's Committee, Branch President and functional units to effectively implement many practical programs such as: Coordinating to open 3 vocational classes (cosmetic makeup, facial care, plastic wire pot weaving, water hyacinth weaving) with 106 students participating. Up to now, in the hamlet, over 85% of members maintain processing handicraft products at home, taking advantage of their spare time to increase family income.

Ms. Via Rinh herself saved money to raise in a piggy bank to sponsor Khmer children who lost their mothers in the hamlet; and coordinated with the hamlet's Women's Union to sponsor 3 motherless children with an amount of 300,000 VND/month.

In addition, she and the Association have mobilized a large number of cadres and members, especially Khmer ethnic people, to participate in physical activities and sports to improve health such as aerobics, walking, badminton, cycling... As a result, 81.46% of members participated, contributing to improving knowledge, ethics and health for female members.

"I always actively participate in the meetings of the Association, mobilizing members to join in helping the poor, people in difficult circumstances, poor but studious children, creating conditions for them to go to school fully, because I understand very well the difficulties and hardships of disadvantaged families and children in the hamlet. I will try harder to be able to participate in contributing meaningful work in the future" - Ms. Via Rinh shared.
