On October 11, the Quang Tri Province Food Safety Steering Committee announced that it had issued a plan to strengthen food safety control for collective kitchens in educational institutions in the area.
This move aims to strengthen management, proactively detect and prevent food contamination risks, and prevent food poisoning and foodborne diseases in school environments.

According to the plan, Quang Tri province will establish specialized and interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct direct inspections at kitchens, school canteens, as well as food suppliers and processing ingredient sources.
The inspection teams will take samples for testing, draw up records, strictly handle violations and suspend operations of facilities that do not comply with food safety regulations.
Quang Tri Department of Health is assigned to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches and localities in the work of inspection, traceability, supervision and strict handling of violations.
This decision was made in the context of Quang Tri continuously recording incidents related to food safety in school kitchens. Notably, 40 students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School, Kim Ngan Commune had to be hospitalized due to symptoms of poisoning.

Previously, at around 8:00 a.m. on September 26, many students at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School began to show symptoms of nausea and stomachache.
Kim Ngan commune authorities coordinated with teachers and parents to quickly take the children to the hospital. Of the 75 students with symptoms of poisoning, 40 had to be hospitalized, while the remaining 35 were monitored locally.
The results of food sample and specimen testing conducted by the authorities detected the Bacillus cereus bacteria strain that produces Non-haemolytic enterotoxin, which was identified as one of the causes of poisoning.
Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School has 75 boarding students, living at school from Monday to Friday every week.
