The program is organized by the Rencontres du Vietnam in collaboration with the French Embassy in Vietnam, the French Institute for Development Research (IRD), the French National Center for Space Studies (CNES) and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH).

According to the Organizing Committee, ocean color reflects the interaction between sunlight and particulate matter in the marine environment, such as phytoplankton, suspended solids, organic and inorganic carbon. Satellite observations help assess biogeochemical parameters, reflecting the quality of seawater and coastal ecosystems.
VSEO-5 is a training model and in-depth academic exchange on space-based ocean color radiation measurement technology, serving the monitoring of ocean color changes, especially in coastal areas of Vietnam. The program combines theory, practical guidance and specialized reports on satellite data applications in research, teaching and environmental management.

Within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee also organized a Workshop on establishing Marine, Climate and Land Monitoring Stations in Gia Lai province (October 13 and 14), aiming to build an international standard Marine Environment and Oceanography Monitoring Station in Quy Nhon sea area, connecting with the BIOMASS satellite signal receiving station of the European Space Agency (ESA).
The project, chaired by Professor Le Toan Thuy, a Vietnamese-origin scientist working at the Center for Space Biosphere Research (CESBIO, France), aims to build a national database on the environment and natural resources, serving research, management and policy making for sustainable development.
Results from the monitoring stations are expected to make practical contributions to the scientific community, support managers' decision-making, enhance international cooperation and promote green, sustainable development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Truong Quang Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai province, said: In the face of the challenge of climate change, training human resources to master Earth observation technology is an urgent task. VSEO-5 is not only a place to share knowledge but also a forum for cooperation, inspiring the young generation, towards green and sustainable development.
Strengthening scientific cooperation between Vietnam and France
At the event, Mr. Denis Fourmeau, Attaché for Scientific Cooperation and Higher Education (French Embassy in Vietnam) said that this year's Autumn School is a vivid demonstration of the strong cooperation between France and Vietnam in the field of space, within the framework of the "France - Vietnam Year of Innovation".

Mr. Denis Fourmeau emphasized that the two countries have made significant progress in scientific cooperation in recent times: Vietnam officially joined the “Space-based Climate Observatory (SCO)” initiative coordinated by CNES; France and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) are promoting the VNREDSAT-2 satellite project, and an SVOM satellite signal receiving antenna has been installed at the ICISE Center to serve space research.
According to Mr. Denis Fourmeau, space science is becoming an important bridge in the strategic relationship between the two countries, expanding to the fields of quantum physics, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and nanotechnology. These cooperations are based on the spirit of trust, knowledge sharing and the common aim towards the values of peace, creativity and sustainable development...
