At the same time, it is also an opportunity to have orientations and solutions to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage related to the famous person Do Khac Chung and the land of Son Dong.
The famous Do Khac Chung (1247-1330), originally from Giap Son (now Hai Phong City), was a learned Confucian scholar, famous for his extensive knowledge, virtue and tireless teaching spirit. When he returned to Quan Tu area (today's Son Dong), he opened a class to teach, train people, and sow the seeds of love of learning and morality in the villagers. From that lamp of learning, Son Dong became a land of "spiritual and talented people", producing many talented people and scholars through the dynasties. After passing the exams, he served as an official in the royal court for nearly 50 years (from 1280 to 1329) under 4 Tran kings. |
During his career as an official, he made great contributions and achieved many honors in the officialdom. Held many important positions in the royal court such as: Royal Censor, Minister of the Left, Grand Chancellor, Junior Guardian... In which the Grand Chancellor and Junior Guardian were the two top positions of the court.
The rituals to pay tribute to teacher Do Khac Chung were conducted solemnly, respectfully and imbued with the cultural identity of Son Dong commune.
In particular, during the second resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol army (1285), he was sent by the court as an envoy to the enemy camp to seek a peace plan. Do Khac Chung obeyed the King's order to meet the enemy general O Ma Nhi to negotiate. With his talent for dealing with people and diplomacy, he "did not humiliate the nation". He even made the enemy general O Ma Nhi look up to the sky and lament: "With such a talented person in the South, it will be difficult for us to win".
The famous Do Khac Chung not only made great contributions to the court and the nation, but also to the people of Quan Tu village. Before becoming an official for the court, he opened a school in the village and became the first teacher. The good teacher ignited dreams, aspirations, and a spirit of learning for the youth of the southern region of Lap Thach.
Participating in the ceremony are citizens of Son Dong commune who have been carefully selected and have experience practicing the religion for many consecutive years.
With the tradition of loving learning and respecting teachers, throughout the country's history, Son Dong commune has always had a large number of intellectuals, many of whom have made great contributions to their homeland and country. Currently, Son Dong commune has more than 60 people with doctoral degrees, many with professor and associate professor titles, and nearly 50 cadres holding key management positions working in Party, State agencies and the People's Armed Forces.
