Tang Cau ceremony in Black Thai wedding

The Tang Cau ceremony (also known as "khun cau") is an important and special ceremony in the wedding of the Black Thai people in the Northwest region of Vietnam. This is the ceremony of tying the bride's hair back on top of her head, marking the transition from a single girl to a married woman.

Tang Cau is the most obvious sign to recognize a Black Thai woman is married. After performing this ceremony, the bride officially becomes a member of her husband's family and takes on a new responsibility.

Nowadays, despite changes and cultural exchanges, the Tang Cau ceremony is still preserved by many Black Thai families, especially in rural areas. This is not only a wedding ritual but also a symbol of the beauty, maturity and responsibility of Black Thai women.
