VinFuture Awards 2024 honors 'world-changing' research

The award ceremony was held on the evening of December 6 at Hoan Kiem Theater, broadcast live on VTV1.

On the evening of December 6, the VinFuture Global Science and Technology Awards 2024 officially took place at the Hoan Kiem Theater (Hanoi). The program was broadcast live from 8:10 p.m. on VTV1 - Vietnam Television and rebroadcast on many online platforms.

This is a special moment awaited by the science and technology community around the world because the award will honor breakthrough inventions and technologies that contribute to improving the quality of life of millions of people on earth and promoting the development of many industries and services that are important to humanity.

Following the success of the previous 3 seasons, VinFuture 2024 attracted a record number of nearly 1,500 research projects, nominated by more than 9,000 partners from more than 80 countries and territories around the world. The number of international scientists becoming nominating partners increased nearly 8 times, the number of nominations increased 2.5 times compared to the first season, demonstrating the stature, spread and international reputation of VinFuture.

The 4th VinFuture Awards will gather hundreds of the world's most outstanding "brains" in key fields that will contribute to shaping the future development of the world, such as materials science, artificial intelligence, medicine, environmental research... Among them are many researchers who are winners of prestigious international awards, such as Nobel, Millennium Technology, Turing... and winners of previous VinFuture Awards.

In addition, VinFuture 2024 also attracts special attention from the public with the presence of leading names in the world and Vietnam in the field of culture and arts. According to information from the Organizing Committee, "the 21st century world rock music monument" - Imagine Dragons band will bring explosive and meaningful performances with unique and modern music.

Meanwhile, Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, violinist Hoang Ho Khanh Van, and the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet will perform performances imbued with the traditional identity and modern beauty of Vietnam.

The VinFuture Awards Ceremony will feature unique performances imbued with national cultural identity.

Which field will be crowned "Asian Nobel"?

With the message “Resilient Breakthrough”, VinFuture 2024 will honor groundbreaking and far-reaching research and inventions, helping humanity to overcome difficulties and reach new heights.

As usual, this year's VinFuture Prize system consists of 4 categories. Of which, the main prize worth more than 76 billion VND, equivalent to 3 million USD, is one of the largest annual prizes ever globally. Three special prizes each worth nearly 13 billion VND, equivalent to 500 thousand USD will be awarded to female scientists, scientists from developing countries and scientists researching new fields.

The VinFuture Prize Council includes prestigious scientists and inventors from educational institutions, research institutes and leading technology corporations in the world. The difference of this year's season is that the program will honor the nominating partners who have made important contributions to the mission of honoring and promoting science to serve humanity.
