On October 5, Foreign Trade University announced the adjustment of the study and exam schedule due to the impact of storm No. 11 (storm Matmo). Accordingly, on October 6 and 7, all classes will switch to online learning. Exams scheduled to take place during this time will be postponed to October 12 and 19, the specific schedule will be updated on the FTUGate system for students.
The school also said that if by October 8 students still encounter difficulties in traveling due to the effects of the storm, the school will have appropriate adjustment plans, depending on the specific situation of each class.
On the same day, the University of Foreign Languages ( Hanoi National University) also issued a notice about online learning on October 6. The training systems that can be studied online include: Regular university, dual degree training, international joint training, part-time 2nd degree, graduate school, and doctoral students.
For general courses with invited lecturers, the Training and Learner Department directly informs lecturers of the online teaching plan. As for courses taught by training departments, heads of units proactively notify lecturers and students.
" Lecturers proactively use online teaching methods: Zoom meetings, MS Teams, Google classroom and directly notify students and trainees to know and implement ," the school stated.

To guard against the danger of storm No. 11, many universities let students study online on October 6.
To prevent flooding and traffic jams due to the impact of Typhoon Matmo, the University of Commerce announced online learning on October 6. Specifically, full-time students, part-time students and international students will be arranged to study online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The school requires faculties and institutes to notify students of online learning plans, and requires lecturers to create Teams links according to personal accounts and send them to students before 8:00 p.m. on October 5.
Similarly, the Student Affairs Department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced that due to the complicated developments of storm No. 11, causing heavy rain over a large area, the board of directors decided to switch to online learning for all classes scheduled to teach on Monday (October 6).
For special classes such as practice and experiments, lecturers will arrange make-up classes at a time suitable for the teaching schedule.
At the Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment, all classes on October 6-7 will be transferred to online format to ensure the safety of lecturers and students. The school requires lecturers to proactively organize online learning to maintain training progress, and at the same time, requests lecturers and students to strictly follow the notice during the storm.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm No. 11 Matmo is at its strongest stage. On the evening of October 5, storm No. 11 (Matmo) crossed the Leizhou Peninsula (China) and entered the northern area of the Gulf of Tonkin with strong winds of level 12, gusting to level 15.
The storm will then move along the northern coast of the Gulf of Tonkin and is likely to make landfall in the area between Quang Ninh province (Vietnam) and Guangxi (China) between midnight October 5 and early morning October 6.
At 4:00 a.m. on October 6, the center of storm No. 11 Matmo on the mainland of Guangxi province (China) had its intensity reduced to level 8-9, gusting to level 11. The storm moved in a West Northwest direction, traveling 20-25km per hour.
