
Le Van Cong competes in the men's 49kg weight class at the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships
The 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships will feature more than 500 athletes from 70 countries and territories. Athletes will compete in 20 individual weight classes (10 for women and 10 for men) over seven days, followed by three team events on the final day, kicking off the qualifying journey for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics (USA).
This is a key tournament in the 2024–2028 cycle, organized by World Para Powerlifting (under the International Paralympic Committee - IPC), officially calculating points for the 2028 Paralympic qualifying round, gathering the best athletes in the world.
Athlete Le Van Cong had an impressive performance, lifting 176kg, ranking 4th overall in the men's 49kg category. With this achievement, Le Van Cong officially passed the first qualifying round of the Los Angeles Paralympics 2028, continuing his journey to conquer the pinnacle of world sports , affirming the position of Vietnamese disabled sports in the international arena.
At this tournament, the Vietnamese para-weightlifting team participated with the following athletes: Le Van Cong (men's 49kg category), Nguyen Binh An (men's 54kg category), Dang Thi Linh Phuong (women's 50kg category), Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (women's 55kg category).
