Billiards match schedule on October 16: Tran Quyet Chien meets his fateful opponent, knockout

Today, October 16, the 3-cushion carom billiards world championship took place in the knockout round, with the participation of 4 Vietnamese players.

The group stage of the 2025 World Championship of 3-cushion billiards (World Championship) in Antwerp - Belgium ended in the early morning of October 16. Of the 5 Vietnamese players participating in the competition, 4 names passed the group stage to advance to the knockout round (32 players) namely Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Thanh Luc and Chiem Hong Thai. Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu was the only Vietnamese player to stop in the first round.

Tran Quyet Chien meets his opponent again in the group stage

Today, October 16, the 2025 World Championship will compete in the knockout round with 16 matches. Accordingly, fate brought Tran Quyet Chien to meet Lee Beom-yeol (Korea) again, at 7:30 p.m. The two players were in the same group. In that match, the Korean player lost with a score of 36-40 to Quyet Chien.

Tran Thanh Luc was the first Vietnamese player to enter the field, facing Ryuji Umeda (Japan) at 5 p.m. The Japanese player was crowned world champion in 2007.

Chiem Hong Thai will face Arnim Kahofer (Austria) at 7:30 p.m. The young Vietnamese player born in 1999 is in good form, as shown in 2 matches in the group stage. Hong Thai has 1 win, 1 draw and shows his impressive ability to win series. Facing an opponent considered to be equally strong in the round of 32, Hong Thai is expected to continue to advance in the 2025 World Championship.

Bao Phuong Vinh will face Yilmaz Ozcan (Türkiye) at 0:30 on October 17 (Vietnam time). Yilmaz Ozcan is not a familiar name to billiards fans around the world, but is a strong player from Türkiye. Yilmaz Ozcan won the World Cup billiards in 1997.
