Hanoi congratulates Do Hoang Hen in a special way

Hanoi posted a video that seemed to be a farewell to Hendrio, but in fact it was a congratulation for him completing the naturalization procedure and becoming a Vietnamese citizen with the name Do Hoang Hen.

On the afternoon of October 16, Hanoi posted a short video with the caption “Thank you and goodbye Hendrio Araújo”. In the video, the Brazilian midfielder expressed: “I want to say goodbye to everyone for always loving, following and waiting. Sadly, I have not been able to play an official match yet”.

The video immediately shocked fans, because Hendrio was a highly anticipated signing, but had yet to play for the capital team. Many even thought he was about to leave Hanoi before his debut.

However, at the end of the video, the truth was revealed: “Hello, I am Do Hoang Hen, a domestic player of Hanoi”. That was how the capital team announced that Hendrio had officially become a Vietnamese citizen.

On the morning of October 17, the midfielder born in 1994 will attend the Vietnamese nationality decision awarding ceremony at the Hanoi Department of Justice, officially becoming a Vietnamese citizen with the name Do Hoang Hen.

On his personal page, Hoang Hen shared his joy: “A lot of happiness, a dream come true”. In the comments section, many fans sent their congratulations and were delighted with the creative communication of the capital team.

Do Hoang Hen will make his debut when Hanoi hosts Ninh Binh in round 7 of V.League 2025/26, taking place on October 18. This promises to be a special debut for the player who has just become a "Vietnamese" in the capital team's jersey.

For the Vietnamese team, Hoang Hen needs to wait more time to be eligible to wear the national team jersey. According to regulations, he must complete 5 years of living and working in Vietnam by December. This means that if he is called up by coach Kim Sang-sik, he can only officially play for the Vietnamese team from the second leg against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. However, the possibility of Hoang Hen participating in the FIFA Days in November to get acquainted with the team environment is entirely possible.
