Two months and two failed assassination attempts later, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is facing life-threatening danger that could last until the November 5 election.

After Mr. Trump was shot in the ear while speaking to supporters at a campaign rally two months ago in Pennsylvania, on September 15, the former US President was again targeted for shooting.

On September 15, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI) announced a shooting near Trump International Golf in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident was considered by the FBI as an attempt to assassinate Mr. Trump when the Republican presidential candidate was present at the golf club at the time.

According to the local police chief, an AK-47-like gun with an optical sight was discovered at the attacker's hideout, along with two bags - one with ceramic tiles inside - and an action camera. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, has been arrested.

TASS news agency quoted FBI agent Jeffrey Veltri as saying at a press conference that there is currently no information to suggest that the suspect in the September 15 assassination colluded with anyone else, but the agency is " still investigating."

Meanwhile, a federal court in the US city of West Palm Beach has indicted suspect Ryan Wesley Routh on two gun-related charges. It is likely that the suspect will face more serious charges as police continue to investigate and prosecutors move forward with the prosecution.

According to CNN , immediately after the assassination attempt, Mr. Trump posted a message on his fundraising website, affirming that he was still safe, healthy and not afraid. However, the assassination attempts have raised concerns about the safety of the US President or the US presidential candidate.

Notably, Western media reported that three social media accounts with Routh's name showed that he was a staunch supporter of Ukraine in the conflict. The New York Times interviewed Routh in 2023 for an article about American volunteers in Ukraine.

In this interview, Routh said he went to Ukraine shortly after Russia's special military operation began in February 2022 to encourage people to fight for the country.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on September 16 that Mr. Trump's life is in danger until he can win the presidential election next November.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the assassination, stressing that political violence will never be tolerated.

On the X website, Mr. Zelensky shared: "I am very happy to hear that Mr. Donald Trump is safe and unharmed. My best wishes to him and his family."

Asked about the alleged connection between the assassination suspect and Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "It is not us who should think, but the US intelligence agencies. In any case, playing with fire will have consequences."
