[Photo] Super harvest moon shines brightly on Mid-Autumn Festival night around the world

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival (October 6) is even more special as it coincides with the supermoon phenomenon - the time when the moon is closest to the Earth in its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter than usual in the night sky.

According to EarthSky, the October supermoon is also known as the “Harvest Supermoon” - a name originating from the agricultural tradition in the Northern Hemisphere, when the bright moonlight helps farmers extend the harvest season.

This is also the first supermoon of 2025. The moon appears about 8% larger and up to 16% brighter than a normal full moon.

Accordingly, the moon will reach its maximum fullness at 10:48 a.m. on October 7 (Vietnam time), but on the nights of October 6 and 7, observers around the world can admire the brightest and most beautiful full moon of the year, blending with the reunion atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

According to Farmers' Almanac, there will be two more supermoons in 2025, expected to appear on November 5 and December 4.

These phenomena are rare opportunities for astronomy lovers to observe the moon in its bright, full, and closest form to Earth.
