Exactly 76 years ago on this day, implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Directive, for the first time, the National War Invalids Day was held in many localities across the country. Since July 1955, our Party and State decided to change the National War Invalids Day to War Invalids and Martyrs Day to recognize the great sacrifices of compatriots and soldiers nationwide for the glorious victory of the entire nation. Since then, War Invalids and Martyrs Day has increasingly entered people's lives, becoming a solemn and sacred holiday in the minds of every Vietnamese person. Along with the development of the country, the activities of "Repaying gratitude" are organized more and more thoughtfully, fully and warmly like the never-ending gratitude of the Vietnamese people towards the heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, families with meritorious services to the revolution... If in the war, the movements of "Repaying gratitude", "Welcoming wounded soldiers back to the village"... became a miracle drug to soothe the pain of losing husbands and children, turning the pain into pride, strength to overcome difficulties, defeat the enemy, then in today's peace , the activities of "Repaying gratitude" not only support families with preferential policies to have a better and better life but also constantly multiply patriotism, consolidate and foster faith in the revolutionary cause that the Party, Uncle Ho and our people have chosen, so that the whole Party and people can be more steadfast, gain more achievements in the cause of innovation and development of the country.
As a locality with many contributions to the resistance wars for national salvation, Thai Binh is also one of the provinces with the highest number of meritorious people and policy families in the country. Imbued with the philosophy of "When drinking water, remember its source", the work of resolving regimes and policies, caring for policy families and meritorious people has always been of interest to the Party Committee, the government and all classes of people in the province. Currently, the whole province has nearly 60,000 meritorious people and their relatives receiving monthly preferential allowances; over 99% of meritorious people's households have an average or higher standard of living. The movement of "Repaying gratitude" is increasingly spreading widely among all classes of people. However, in addition, the resolution of regimes and policies for meritorious people is still a concern because there are still many unresolved meritorious people's files. This is a reality that requires sectors, levels and the whole society to participate more strongly and responsibly.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh once advised: “The blood of those martyrs has made the revolutionary flag even more brilliant. The heroic sacrifice of the martyrs has prepared for our country to blossom with independence and bear fruit of freedom. Our people will forever remember the merits of the martyrs... War invalids are those who have sacrificed their families and blood to protect the Fatherland and protect their compatriots. For the benefit of the Fatherland and their compatriots, you comrades have suffered from illness and cripples. Therefore, the Fatherland and our compatriots must be grateful and must help those heroic sons...”.
The anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day is an occasion to review the proud tradition of the nation, to pay tribute to the heroic sons of the country, and also an occasion to look back and re-evaluate the work of caring for policy families and people with meritorious services. Through that, each level, sector, locality and individual sets out for themselves practical, necessary and meaningful tasks so that policy families and people with meritorious services can have a better life, and together strive for a beautiful society and a strong country.
Peace
