Latest case of teacher being strangled by colleague in school yard in Dak Lak

On October 17, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training reported to the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers (under the Ministry of Education and Training ) about the case of a teacher being strangled by a colleague in the middle of the schoolyard.

Accordingly, the incident occurred at around 7:10 a.m. on October 3, 2025, in the yard of Vo Nguyen Giap High School (Ea O commune, Dak Lak province).

Dak Lak Department of Education and Training's report said teacher Nguyen Truc Sinh was strangled twice.

At that time, Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh, Secretary of the Youth Union, teacher of National Defense and Security Education , was performing the assigned task of checking student discipline and supervising order. During this process, Mr. Sinh reminded Mr. Dang Tang, a teacher at the same school, for parking his motorbike in the wrong place in the school yard.

However, Mr. Tang reacted violently, using threatening words and squeezing Mr. Sinh's neck twice, witnessed by security guards and some students. The school security guards promptly intervened.

The incident left Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh with a neck injury, causing panic to the victim, psychological shock to the students who witnessed it, and seriously affecting the safe and healthy educational environment in the school.

Afterwards, Vo Nguyen Giap High School reported the case of disturbing public order and intentionally causing injury to the Department of Education and Training and the Ea O Commune Police. On October 9, 2025, the school decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Dang Tang from teaching for 15 days, and continue to implement the processes and procedures to strictly handle it according to the law.

After receiving the report from Vo Nguyen Giap High School, Dak Lak Department of Education and Training worked with school leaders to grasp the situation and provide initial handling instructions.

The Dak Lak Department of Education and Training has issued an official dispatch requesting the school to review and discipline Mr. Dang Tang based on current regulations and report the results. At the same time, the Department established an inspection team led by Deputy Director Nguyen Xuan Da to verify and direct the handling. The Department will continue to monitor, coordinate with the police and report to the Ministry of Education and Training when the results are available.

As Tien Phong reported, at around 7:10 a.m. on October 3, while on duty checking student discipline at Vo Nguyen Giap High School (Ea O commune, Dak Lak), Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh - Secretary of the school's Youth Union, teacher of National Defense and Security Education - reminded his colleague Dang Tang about parking illegally. However, Mr. Tang not only did not accept the warning but also loudly threatened and choked Mr. Sinh twice in the middle of the schoolyard, causing panic among the students who witnessed it.

The incident left Mr. Sinh with a neck injury. The school immediately reported it to the authorities and confirmed that Mr. Tang's behavior had seriously affected the teaching environment. Previously, this teacher was also reported to have a frequent aggressive attitude and violated working regulations. The school requested the Department of Education and Training and local police to promptly investigate and handle the matter seriously to maintain school discipline.

Talking to Tien Phong newspaper reporters about this incident later, Mr. Dang Tang said that the information about him strangling Mr. Sinh was incorrect. Mr. Tang only admitted to using his hand to grab his colleague's neck but "did not squeeze" and he said that the incident was "the last straw" when his motorbike was thrown out on the street earlier. Mr. Tang even reported to the competent investigation agency that in May 2024 he was "beaten up" by a number of teachers in the school, however, after getting involved, the investigation agency at that time concluded that there was no basis for criminal prosecution.

After receiving information about the incident of a teacher assaulting a colleague at Vo Nguyen Giap High School, the Ministry of Education and Training requested the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training to urgently inspect, verify and report the results to the Ministry (through the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers) before October 14, 2025. The report needs to clarify the developments of the incident, the responsibilities of the relevant collectives and individuals and the handling measures that have been taken.
