A principal in Bac Lieu was recommended to be disciplined for allowing teachers to gamble in school.

On August 12, the Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district ( Bac Lieu province) sent a document requesting the Chairman of the People's Committee of this district to discipline the principal of a primary school in the area.

The person proposed for disciplinary action is Mr. Huynh Van Te, Principal of Vinh Phu Primary School (Ninh Quoi A commune, Hong Dan district).

Mr. Te was recommended for disciplinary action because he allowed teachers and staff to use the library as a place to gamble.

Previously, on July 18, the Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district received information about teachers and staff using the school library to organize gambling, making it impossible for students to read.

Through verification, the Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district determined that the incident of managers, teachers, and staff playing cards in the library (on the side of the teachers' reading room) was real.

This incident happened many times, most of the school's managers, teachers and (male) staff participated once or twice.

The incident usually occurs during recess, after professional activities, or after school labor events.

"No one organized the gambling, but the administrators, teachers, and staff spontaneously invited each other to play. The principal knew about this, but did not take timely measures to prevent it," the report of the Hong Dan District Department of Education and Training stated.

The report also stated that administrators, teachers, and staff gambled for drinks, and sometimes cigarettes. The losing side paid for the drinks and cigarettes. There was no gambling.

The Hong Dan District Department of Education and Training said that, however, gambling had occurred many times in the library, causing negative public opinion among administrators, teachers, and staff; affecting the school's order, discipline, and reputation; affecting the image of teachers in front of students; and causing public outrage.

The main responsibility for the above incident belongs to Mr. Huynh Van Te, Party Cell Secretary and Principal of Vinh Phu Primary School.

From there, the Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district requested the Chairman of the People's Committee of this district to handle the principal of Vinh Phu Primary School according to regulations.
