Watching young 'Dien Bien soldiers' in Ho Chi Minh City pull cannons and crawl trenches

An estimated 2,500 children, team members and residents participated in the "I am a soldier of Dien Bien in Uncle Ho's city" rally organized by the City Youth Union and Ho Chi Minh City Team Council on May 26.

Speaking at the gathering, Ms. Trinh Thi Hien Tran - Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Young Pioneers Council - informed: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, children in Ho Chi Minh City had 7 weeks of peak competition from city to grassroots levels with many contents and programs. Thereby, many positive results were created, activities of high educational value, attracting 5 million participants with the spirit of "Fire Dien Bien - Children are ready".

The Young Pioneer Organization has been, is and always will be the main factor and indispensable environment for children to practice, strive and mature.

Ho Chi Minh City team members and students have contributed more than 461 million VND to the "Gifts for Friends" program.

This money will be given by the child delegates participating in the journey "I love Vietnam" in 2024 of Ho Chi Minh City to team members and students in difficult circumstances of the two provinces of Dien Bien and Son La in the near future.

Ho Chi Minh City's emulation clusters in the regiments joined the parade, reenacting the images of the forces participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign 70 years ago.

Typical examples include the flag parade and the campaign command committee "I am a Dien Bien soldier, Uncle Ho's city" throughout the city.

The marching group of the Northwest Division (competition group 3) recreated the engineering and logistics-transportation forces. The Victory Division (competition group 2) recreated the frontline laborers and medical forces.

As for the public service units under the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, there are the Ho Chi Minh City Children's House, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, the Center for Youth Science and Technology Development, and Sao Bac Dau Corporation "playing the role" of war reporters and cultural workers...

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission - said that the 83rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team is not only to be proud of the glorious and heroic tradition and history of the Team, but also an occasion to deeply express gratitude to generations of team members and children.

Mr. Cuong emphasized that all levels and units need to create favorable conditions for the Youth Union and Young Pioneers to operate best, which is also to create an environment for training and comprehensive development for young pioneers, teenagers and children in the city.
