Nghe An attracts more than 610 million USD in FDI capital in 6 months

This afternoon (July 11), Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to inform about the socio- economic situation, national defense and security in the first 6 months of 2023.

Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Truong said that Nghe An continues to maintain growth momentum and achieve important results.

Specifically, the growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months of 2023 is estimated at 5.79%, higher than the average growth rate of the whole country in the first 6 months of the year (reaching 3.72%). Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 4.26%; the industry and construction sector increased by 4.31%; the service sector increased by 7.91%.

Total state budget revenue in the area in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at 8,489 billion VND, reaching 53.5% of the estimate.

Investment attraction has achieved positive results. As of June 30, there were 66 newly licensed projects (up 13.79% over the same period) and 84 projects adjusted. The total newly licensed and increased capital was VND22,309.7 billion, of which newly licensed capital was VND19,838 billion, up 1.34 times over the same period.

In particular, Nghe An province rose to 8th place out of 63 localities in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), with a total newly granted and adjusted capital of 725.4 million USD; in the first 6 months of the year, it attracted 8 FDI projects with registered capital of 613.8 million USD.

Prioritize infrastructure construction projects

Some tasks and solutions in the last 6 months of the year that Nghe An province has promoted to implement are as follows: Develop an implementation plan and organize the announcement and implementation of the planning of Nghe An province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (immediately after being approved by the Prime Minister).

Continue to build the Project to expand the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city; Project to adjust and expand the Southeast Economic Zone according to the roadmap.

Promote administrative reform to strongly improve the investment and business environment; carry out digital transformation and strongly apply information technology.

Focus on supporting and resolving difficulties and obstacles for production and business activities, supporting enterprises and investors. Actively coordinate with industrial park infrastructure investors (VIP, WHA, Hoang Thinh Dat) to promote and attract investment from secondary investors.

Proactively urge to speed up the progress of procedures and implementation of investment projects, especially large projects in the Southeast economic zone and industrial parks such as: Investment policy of Hoang Mai II Industrial Park project; groundbreaking of Tho Loc Industrial Park project (VSIP2); investment procedures for Project Area B - Tho Loc Industrial Park, Nghia Dan Industrial Park, WHA Industrial Park phase 3...

Effectively implement the socio-economic recovery and development program; promote growth in all sectors and fields. Sectors and levels proactively and actively review and grasp the production and business situation in each sector, field and locality.

At the same time, prioritize resources and focus on implementing key infrastructure projects such as: Expressway section through Nghe An; coastal road; infrastructure of economic zones and industrial parks; focus on implementing the Cua Lo deep-water port project and upgrading Vinh International Airport.
