On October 18, at Vincom Ice Rink, Royal City (Thanh Xuan ward, Hanoi ), the 2025 National Youth Skating Championship took place with hundreds of athletes participating.
In the waiting room, Nguyen Hoang Bao Chi was quite nervous before entering her competition, the 500m semi-professional women's Junior speed skating event.
In 2024, at the Southeast Asian Open Speed Skating Championship held in the Philippines, Nguyen Hoang Bao Chi, born in 2015, excellently won two gold medals in the 333m and 500m distances. Most recently, at the 2025 Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy held in India, Bao Chi excellently won a silver medal in the 333m event and a bronze medal in the 500m event for the Vietnamese team.
Stepping onto the field amidst the cheers and encouragement of family and spectators, Nguyen Hoang Bao Chi smiled confidently, preparing to enter the race.
In the 500m race, 4 athletes competed together, quickly accelerating after hearing the starting signal. With extensive experience in many international arenas, Bao Chi with registration number 131 dominated right from the first meters.
Entering the second lap, child star Bao Chi accelerated quickly, starting to create quite a distance from her opponents.
After 3 laps, Bao Chi finished smoothly and left her nearest opponent about 5m behind. She won first place overall in the semi-professional category at the 2025 National Youth Figure Skating Championship.
Nguyen Hoang Bao Chi is a child star of Vietnamese speed skating, who has previously won many high achievements in the international arena.
Bao Chi burst into tears, screaming with joy when she won first place in the semi-professional category at the 2024 National Youth Figure Skating Championship.
"I am very happy and pleased to have achieved first place. But I will continue to try my best to perform my best on the second day of competition with the professional athlete categories. I hope to achieve good results," Bao Chi excitedly said.
Also on October 18, many events of the 2025 National Youth Figure Skating Championship took place. With hundreds of athletes of many ages participating, in a fierce and exciting atmosphere.
Speed skating competitions are divided into many age groups: 13 years old and up, 11-12 years old, 9-10 years old, 7-8 years old, under 6 years old.
On the first day of competition (October 18), the competitions for semi-professional young athletes took place. The second day of competition, starting on the morning of October 19, was for professional athletes.
Although it was a competition day for semi-professional content, the competitions were still dramatic and attractive with many excellent performances from the child stars.
An athlete had a problem with his skates right before the start time, and technical staff promptly assisted him so he could continue competing.
The competition atmosphere on the field was full of excitement, many young athletes were enthusiastically cheered on by their families and audiences when participating in the competition.
