The person who voluntarily handed over the two rare birds mentioned above is Mr. Ho Vali (residing in Ha Lec village, Kim Ngan commune, Quang Tri province). Mr. Li said that these two birds had previously flown into his house. Realizing that this bird species was quite strange, possibly a rare species, very valuable and in need of strict protection, he proactively contacted the authorities to hand it over in accordance with the law.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Que, Head of Kim Ngan Forest Protection Department, said that after receiving the birds, Kim Ngan Forest Protection Department inspected and determined that these were two brown-throated birds with the scientific name Anorrhinus austeni, belonging to group IB, an endangered and rare forest animal that needs strict protection.
Kim Ngan Forest Protection Department has transferred two brown-throated birds to the Rescue, Conservation and Development Center of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for care, rehabilitation and will release them back into the natural environment after being checked and determined to be in good health.
In Quang Tri province, in recent times, the awareness of protecting forests, wildlife and the environment in the community has been increasingly concerned and raised. Thanks to that, the number of people voluntarily handing over wild animals and rare animals is increasing and is becoming a remarkable beauty in the community.
