Accepting “Father and Daughter” Contest Entries Until 24 Hours Today

The second writing contest with the theme “Father and Daughter” organized by Vietnam Family Magazine has received the attention of many people since its launch. Up to now, after more than 2 months, the organizing committee has received hundreds of quality entries with familiar but very sacred stories about the love between father and daughter.

It can be seen that, on the journey to adulthood, there are many happy memories between father and daughter such as the times when they wandered with their father through the district streets to the city in the work "Memories of the rubber bands" by author Nguyen Vy Yen (Buon Ma Thuat): "I followed my father, walking and skipping, my eyes glued to the ground looking for rubber bands and happily bending down to pick them up. The childhood of the 8x generation was associated with the game of jumping rope, so almost every child had a hobby of collecting rubber bands".

That could also be the simple happiness of author Nguyen Hoai Anh ( Ho Chi Minh City) when he can chat with his father through phone calls: “At the age of 35, half of my life has been away from my father's house. My father is still with me in every chat or phone call about a new limited edition book, a late night football final, or an action movie that just came out on Netflix. My father is still present in every word I write, every trip, in my child's clear eyes, his endless love.”

However, there are times when fathers and daughters feel distant. That is when fathers are too busy with work to spend time with their daughters, or sometimes because fathers overprotect each other, unintentionally making their daughters feel deprived of freedom. Or when daughters are determined to pursue their own passions, not knowing that fathers also need time to get used to that new world ,...

However, overcoming that invisible distance, just by putting their hearts close together, father and daughter will be ready to understand and open up to the differences. Instead of letting the ego "speak up", using words to hurt each other, each person should give each other the opportunity to be listened to, to be understood, to accept and change for each other.

And perhaps, all of those beautiful and sacred feelings have been wrapped up by fathers and daughters in each word and paragraph sent to the writing contest "Father and Daughter".

As the author Dinh Thi Thuy - General Director of MISA software company shared, the writing contest about "Father and daughter" has given children like her the opportunity to speak their hearts, write down their thoughts and feelings for their father.

“I always respect and love my parents, grateful for all the hard work and sacrifices they have made for us three siblings, but normally I only know how to show my gratitude by doing acts of filial piety, but I have never been able to directly say to my parents, “I love, respect and am very grateful to you, Mom and Dad” – she expressed.

According to the plan of the Organizing Committee, the second "Father and Daughter" contest will accept entries until 24 hours today (June 10). The entries will be judged by a prestigious jury such as Poet Hong Thanh Quang, Writer Nguyen Mot, Writer Vo Hong Thu, Poet Tran Huu Viet... to select the best works.

The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the contest were held on Vietnamese Family Day (June 28).
