Construction of the 12,000 billion VND opera house masterpiece in West Lake is about to begin

On October 5, the Hanoi Opera House will officially start construction in Tay Ho Ward, Hanoi. The theater project was designed by the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano - a giant of modern architecture with works that changed the world. This is considered a lucky thing for Vietnam when the legendary Renzo Piano, with 88 years of age and 67 years of career, chose to dedicate his life's accumulated quintessence to designing the Hanoi Opera House.

The project has modern architecture with a dome inspired by the ripples of West Lake. The dome uses a self-supporting thin-shell structure. The surface is covered with a layer of material that creates a pearl effect, changing colors to reflect the poetic West Lake scenery.

Architect Renzo Piano conceived the idea of ​​the building's thin-shell structure 40 years ago.

From the outside, the curved dome looks very natural, but in fact it is the result of a very in-depth research process by Renzo Piano from the biological simulation of the structure of bones, shells, bird skulls..., or studies of the veins of lotus leaves floating on the water surface. This thin shell structure was conceived by architect Renzo Piano 40 years ago - a time when construction techniques were not yet developed to meet this pinnacle of design. Today, with the development of computer technology, architect Renzo can confidently realize his dream at the Hanoi Opera House.

Architect Renzo Piano said that with the Hanoi Opera House, he wishes to contribute to building an iconic theater for Vietnam, and put it on the list of the most famous theaters in the world such as in Paris, Milan, Berlin, London, New York, Los Angeles...

Architect Renzo himself is the one who presided over the idea of ​​designing the surrounding landscape according to the model of a green park. Many more trees will be planted around the theater area to create a public park where the capital's people come not only to enjoy art but also to relax and sightsee. Ponds and lakes around the area such as the lotus pond of Pho Linh pagoda, Thuy Su lake... will be invested in cleaning, renovating, restoring and planting West Lake lotus to synchronize with the entire park.
