Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien's real name is Nguyen Ngoc Chieu. He comes from an artistic family but his parents objected to his artistic pursuits. Thanks to his perseverance, his parents accepted him and when he entered the acting career, he quickly became famous.

The impressive plays that Thanh Dien participated in are: "Nhat Kiem Ba Vuong" (as Tong Tu Ly), "Chieu Thu Sau Ly Biet" (as Hac Van), "Kiep nao co yeu nhau" (as Thanh Cat Genghis Khan)...

In 1970, artist Thanh Dien joined the Kim Chung 2 troupe. In 1974, he founded the Xuan Lien Hoa troupe. The troupe's lead actress at that time was Meritorious Artist Thanh Kim Hue, who later became his wife.

Meritorious Artist Thanh Dien won a Gold Medal for the play "White Night" (playing the role of Uncle Ho) at the National Professional Theatre Festival in 1995. Later, he also successfully played the role of Uncle Ho in the play "Old Traces" of the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater...

Meanwhile, composer Hoang Song Viet was born into a poor working-class family with many siblings. At the age of 6, he suffered from a severe fever that paralyzed one leg. Despite many difficulties in life, he was always persistent, tried hard to study and was at the top of his class.

Having been passionate about Cai Luong since childhood, he dreamed of one day working in a theater-related field. Having participated in the Don Ca Tai Tu Club in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, he gradually learned Cai Luong pieces on his own. Here, he met a friend who was a Cai Luong artist. Realizing that he had the ability to compose, a few years later, this person introduced him to the Tuoi Tre Thuong Cai Luong Troupe. After a period of self-training, he made constant efforts to write scripts.

The reputation of playwright Hoang Song Viet resounded after the play "Thanh Xa - Bach Xa" he composed was performed at Hoa Binh Theater. After that, Meritorious Artist Vu Linh debuted at Song Be 2 Troupe and also asked him to write the script "Duyen Kiep", which made the names of many artists who won gold medals, Tran Huu Trang, become stars.

For the Tran Huu Trang award, he has many contributions, providing many traditional songs and excerpts for artists to compete, including the competitions "Golden Bell of Traditional Music" of HTV, "Golden Rice Flower" of VOH...

Three years ago, composer Hoang Song Viet retired.
