Artist Thanh Dien suddenly posted a clip on his personal page saying that he was warned by his doctor that he could lose his ability to see light at any time.

Thanh Dien's eyes have severe diabetic complications.

Thanh Dien said he went to many hospitals but the doctors all shook their heads, saying that his eyes had severe complications from diabetes. Recently, his eyes started to bleed, becoming blurry, and the light in front of his eyes kept fading.

"The doctor said that he could lose his sight at any moment. Hearing that, my heart stopped beating. I thought to myself that this year's theater anniversary would probably not allow me to see or burn incense for my ancestors anymore" - Thanh Dien said sadly.

He added that wherever his colleagues invited him, he felt depressed and self-conscious, and no longer wanted to appear on social networks.

His family saw that his eyes were getting worse, so they took him to the hospital with little hope. He also told his children: "I'm old, how much longer do I have to live?"

However, Thanh Dien has more hope when there is a specialized eye hospital supporting and encouraging him not to give up. The clip posted on his personal page was made after he had eye surgery and was hospitalized during the days when the Ho Chi Minh City stage was holding a memorial service for the theater's founder.

In the clip, Thanh Dien looks brighter and has more confidence in keeping his eyesight. He is very happy because he is being taken care of by the doctors and nurses. The hospital director also admires him from the movie Southern Land .

Thanh Dien thinks that if artists live well, wherever they go, they will be loved and supported by the audience. To him, that is an extremely great happiness.

Thanh Dien hopes that Youtubers won't film when artists are ugly or weak.

Thanh Dien hopes to keep his eyesight so that he can continue living and continue to serve the audience. After recovering from the surgery, he will return to Thanh Tuan's live show this coming December at Ben Thanh Theater.

He also sent a message to YouTubers. He said he was sad to see YouTubers posting clips of him getting out of a taxi while attending a show and saying he was very weak.

He said he was 81 years old, how could he not be weak. But partly because his eyesight was bad, he could not walk confidently.

"I'm weak, Minh Vuong is weak too. Minh Vuong had to have a kidney transplant, that's already very good. When we step on stage, we have to try to show that we're healthy, because we're all old" - Thanh Dien shared sincerely.

He expressed his hope that YouTubers would not film when artists are sick or weak because they are afraid that those ugly images will appear everywhere on the internet.

He humorously said: "You guys film when I'm beautiful so that the older artists can be comforted, have more joy and faith to continue bringing their songs to serve the audience. When I'm beautiful, turn my face, when I'm ugly, turn my back!"

Currently, Thanh Dien is also anxiously waiting for the recovery time to know the results of his eyes. Audiences and colleagues send many wishes and prayers for him to be safe and find the light to continue to step on stage and in movies.
