Raising awareness, promoting the role and participation of children, especially girls, in communication activities to raise awareness of gender equality, building a safe environment for children to be protected, cared for and develop comprehensively is one of the important goals that the contest "Creating communication products to raise awareness of gender equality for children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas" aims for. On December 23, Lao Cai held an award ceremony for the "Contest to create communication products to raise awareness of gender equality for children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in 2023". This is an activity within the framework of Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, period 2021-2030, organized by the Lao Cai Provincial Women's Union in coordination with the Provincial Youth Union and the Department of Education and Training. Project 8 " Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children " (Project) is one of 10 projects under the National Target Program for ethnic minority and mountainous areas, period 2021-2030. The project is chaired and implemented by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union. The 2023 contest for composing communication products to raise awareness of gender equality for children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas is called "Listen to your children talk", with the theme "Happy family". According to the contest rules, the contestants are children aged 6-16. They can participate in 2 forms: composing pictures for individuals and composing video clips for groups. After more than 4 months of launching, the Organizing Committee received 57 video clips and 488 paintings submitted to the district-level contest; 30 video clips and 145 paintings were selected to participate in the provincial contest. The Jury of Lao Cai province has marked the preliminary round and selected 16 works to participate in the contest at the central level. General comments on the entries, according to the Jury's assessment, are that the products basically follow the contest theme, with rich and diverse forms and materials, showing the investment and creativity of the children. Some outstanding and impressive products clearly express personal ideas, imbued with the cultural colors of the Lao Cai highlands. According to the jury, the works are diverse in content, reflecting real issues that are impacting and affecting children's lives and learning such as: Domestic violence; discrimination between boys and girls; early marriage, gender prejudice, gender stereotypes; children's desire to live in a family with loving and caring parents and to study and play in a safe environment. Photo: Lao Cai Newspaper[/caption] The Organizing Committee of the contest has decided to award the following prizes: In the field of video clip creation, 3 thematic prizes, 4 consolation prizes, 3 third prizes, 2 second prizes and 1 first prize (work "Simple Happiness" - Leader of Change Club of Bac Ha Secondary and High School, Bac Ha district); in the field of painting creation, 6 thematic prizes, 14 consolation prizes, 6 third prizes, 5 second prizes and 1 first prize (work "What I wish" - author Lung Thi Phuong Thao, Nam Mon Secondary Boarding School, Bac Ha district). Regarding painting creation, 6 thematic prizes, 14 consolation prizes, 6 third prizes, 5 second prizes and 1 first prize (work "What I wish" - author Lung Thi Phuong Thao, Nam Mon Secondary Boarding School, Bac Ha district). At the closing ceremony and awarding ceremony of the contest, the Organizing Committee affirmed that the contest has contributed to raising awareness, promoting the role and participation of children, especially girls, in communication activities to raise awareness of gender equality, building a safe environment for children to be protected, cared for and develop comprehensively.
